Transmission Problems

Repair or replace that, it's not a hose leaking right? Replace the clutch master cylinder. Usually one goes with the other following right behind it so you try to replace both the slave and the master clyinder with it.

The leak isn't coming from the clutch master cylinder, its coming from the brake master cylinder.

Replace it immediately, if your not able to stop your going to have some serious problems. It's lasted it's time.

It's coming from where this bolts to the round black brake booster

Yup it's seal is blown. That's where they leak from, also check under the pedals to see a wet carpet.

Ya I will get that replaced as soon as I can. However back to the gear issue. These two things couldn't be related could they. I highly doubt it but considering they use the same tank for both the clutch and brake fluid figured I would check. Also I appreciate everyone's help.

I would repair it... since our clutch is hydrulic from the brake cylinder, depening on where the leak is it could be putting air into the clutch slave line... maybe, but I doubt its that causeing the problem... since its only on the even gears and reverse...

How frustrating. Alright thanks guys. I'll try and get that ordered in the mean time I'll be driving the other car. I'll let you know what happens.

make sure you keep your brake fluid is full constantly or your gonna have more problems than the tranny...

A little preventive maintenance goes a long way to preventing any serious issues from popping up.

So is this brake master cylinder something that can be done without having to take it somewhere. From what it looks like it is just a couple bolt and and I imagine bleed the break and slave again.

Bringing this topic back to life, sorry. So I took my car to the transmission place in town where they do free diagnostics and surprise surprise they couldn't get the problem to happen. They suggested that my clutch may be on it's way out but to me that doesn't make sense. If it was my clutch why would it only be 2nd, 4th and reverse. And I have no idea about synchros those aren't all related to the same synchro are they?

to tired to think right now sorry man... i'll regroup and reread when ive slept...

I think your problem is with the gears in the tranny. When you try to shift they dont mesh correctly and sometimes will lock you out until you clutch it again. I read something a while back about people having trouble shifting and needing to have gears machined so they shift more smooth. This problems wasn't a syncro issue either. I don't know if the msp needs an additive for the LSD but i use GM syncromesh fluid in my other car and it works wonders.
