You just crushed your warranty. It says right in the Speed6 Owners Manual "Not meant for towing ".

I think every car manual says "not meant for towing" (I've seen the same in an STI manual, or maybe it was just a regular WRX) but I still see people with hitches on their cars. LMAO (smash)

...I dunno....I think your just jealous.....

Here is my old STI with a hitch:

Oh...you can put them on all right, but wait until something breaks...(rofl)
Why in the hell would I be jealous???
Get out your checkbook.

again...wait until something breaks.
You think Mazda goes nuts over a CAI? Wait until they see that hitch and you have a burnt wheel bearing or something.

Cant say I didn't warn ya. (lol2)

I never said it was ok to do, honestly I don't understand why people put a hitch on their cars, that's what my truck was for, since I no longer have it I can at least borrow my father's F350 or a buddy's truck. The only truck I wanna get these days is either an F150 Lightning or a Tacoma X-Runner

I'm just saying, I think all manuals for any "4wd" CAR (like AUDIs, SUBARU, and Mitsu's EVO and gs-x eclipse) all say "not meant for towing"

doesn't mean people aren't going to put it on, lol. But I know Car Manufacturers won't fix crap if they find out you had a hitch installed.

^^ Gotta agree, if you want to tow, get a truck ... dont ugly up your ms6 with a hitch, and then end up f'in up your susp.

to the op ... that really sucks man, sorry to see it.

the whole hitch idea cant be good for that rear diff. the ms6 might get confused when it realizes theres a buttload of extra weight behind...and the ECU may need some therepy because its owner has tranformed a thoroughbred into a mule...

just my .02

Does anyone have information on what different hitches and what companies are out there? Ideally I wan to install it myself without having to drill holes in the car. Is there one that anyone here knows or that mounts to something more secure that the spare tire well?

I need to put a Class 1 on my 6i ASAP!

don't worry "Killer", you can save your condescending comments for someone else, I am not towing. I am using it to haul around my Carbon Fiber TT bike on a fork-mount hitch rack.

dont sweat it, I race motocross and have hitched every "not meant for towing" cars ive owned......however im NOT hitching my speed....Ill just borough my moms cx-7 :)

Do you have info on any brands/mounting styles?

Nothing personally, but I would say any local truck accessory store might be able to hook you up.

Even brands like hidden-hitch, reese, or draw-tite might have info on their sites.

Yeah, I will probably end up going this route.

Thanks!

the fwd bias of the mazdaspeed would slightly help prevent the rear from taking damage, you can tow up to a ton and a half with cars like this, its been done. 5 grownups in the car = a ton. (all my friends are big) and the design of the trailer hitch itself is for the preservation and control of the rear. and not everyone babies their mileage, i'm out of warrantee, and the new extended warrantees cover everything that the factory doesn't if you design the right kind. yo guys, here's 14 extra dollars a month, cover my rear diff and axles, they are known to be weak on the speed 6, oh you already knew that? thanks. done.

Just one very specific question... Warranty companies are also out for themselves, and they want to look out for themselves.

That being said, here's the question.... WHERE did you manage find an Extended Warranty company that would cover your car's damage (not designed for towing) after you hook a hitch up to it and damage it during towing?

[example: you're towing a small trailer with your MX dirtbike on the highway and the 5 cars in front of you suddenly slam on their brakes, and you are then required to make the decision of slamming on yours, or slamming into the rear of the car in front of you..... a very keen reason and ideal why TRUCKS are very specifically designed with towing in mind, as I'm sure you can imagine the kind of damage a sudden HALT of the car's chassis would imbue itself with weight like that behind it]

Because I would LOVE to sign up with them myself, seriously.... I want them to cover my MS6 in the event I blow the rear differential out because I decided to take it to the track, or I got a little spirited while "racing" on a winding mountain road (which is something normal warranties won't cover... as you said).

To Rosshole... you only want to haul around a 10 speed bike? What about one of those trunk mount bike racks? I'm sure you're familiar with what I'm talking about, you can usually see them whenever you're on the highway. they will allow you to remove them when you don't need it, and I believe they do not require any drilling or modifying of any kind.

(this is just an example, not saying to get this one specifically)

I already have the rack (it is a fork mount design). A trunk mount rack would work well, but Carbon Fiber bikes should NOT be transported that way.

it is similar to This one.
