Leppy. You probably have your mind made up by this point, but nate has really good points and I'm sure he's just looking out for another member. If you think and have researched and researched some more on your abilities to make repayments then I say go ahead and get the SI. It's a really nice car with Honda reputation. You can't lose there. But you really have to realize that you are not getting a deal in anyway. First, being upside down is not good. Second, dealers are there to make money. They are not financial advisors. Third, I think (and I could be wrong) the reason that you are getting such high interest rates is that either your credit is either less than stellar or you have too much at one time.

Again, if you have thought this through and can afford to pay for a little longer then go buy the SI. It does sound like a good deal.

Good luck!

Got it, not exactly the deal I wanted, but i'm not paying more than I was before. Just someone shoot me (not literally) if I ever think about selling this one within 4 years...

I'll put it to you this way.. I'm not in the used 04, i'm in a brand new 05, and the salesman isn't getting commisioned off of this one :)

more info later.

PS: I don't like the 06 Si style, so it ain't gonna happen Hugh.

It's an white 05 Si, fully loaded. I rolled it off the lot with 176 miles on it. (we put 15 on it before we talked numbers) I actually feel like i'm paying exactly what the car's worth. the sticker is 22,500. and I payed 22,100 AFTER TT&L, GAP insurance, and being upside down on the trade-in. how's THAT for talking down...

You'll get pictures sometime this week, don't fret. We'll do a Civic LX SE and Civic SI side by side, too. Both 05. :)

So your total principle is 22K? Not bad.

Good to hear you got what you wanted. Man I'm kinda jealous. There is so much out there for the hondas it makes me sick.LOL You'll have to stick around for a while to give us a review on the car. As far as the 06 si goes, Simply put I (humpleg) on that car. But I do that on about 1000 other cars also!

My friend bought his SI for $15,700... brand new.

I raced it in my P5 and I would be ahead a tiny bit by the top of 2nd and he'd pull about a car length on me by the top of 3rd. I thought the SI felt like a tighter car than the p5 in the turns. I think they're very equal cars but with refinement going to the Honda. Also, that CTR (Civic Type-R) JDM stuff is hot! If you have a white one get some CTR headlights, a nice lip and some bronze rims. Hell, i'd do a CTR conversion. I'm about to get rid of my P5 for a GSR so I'll be seeing you in the Honda ranks again soon.

he got a white 05

I'm paying 220 a month for my P5, and I didn't lease it or stretch out the loan. Whoever sold ya the car really ****** ya over

so your new payment is ~$470/month @10%, hopefully, they gave you some sort of Honda summer clearance sales percentages at 3.9% which would drop the payment ~$60 bringing it to ~$410/mont which would be way better than your 18%/$450 Protege. I have no idea of how you sleep at night paying 18% on a car loan?! :)

your 18% loan means you borrowed around $18k for your previous car? I don;t know what model you got but it had better been loaded. What did you trade-in for that? You must have been a little upside down in that car too. The sales managers know how to hide $'s. Believe me. it is a stressfull job and no amount of money will make me want to do it.
Glad it worked out.

PS I am a bastard that has/0%. My payments almost half than what you were paying on your protege.

oh well, he's out and hopefully got a lower rate

as long as he can keep the car for 4 years he'll be golden

I'm at over 3 years already on my protege, and I feel like I'm just getting started
