I am not saying they have to focus on domnestic cars just ones available here.
It would sure be more interesting then focusing on english cars.

I got this reply to my complaint to the discovery channel:

The "Top Gear" show was not "taken off the air" but rather ran its pattern.
It is being revamped for a U.S. audience and will return later this year.
Look for it in December.

The email seemed a little bit "canned". There was a bunch of other stuff in the email that was not even related to my question. I wonder if they have been getting a lot of questions about top gear or other shows and set up some sort of auto reply. Oh well, at least it looks like it will be back - from what I was reading in other forums it looked to be gone for good.

This is PR bulls***. It's been canceled.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the article that Clarkson recently wrote which blasts the U.S.. I figured that this was the reason the show was canceled as the Discovery Channel didn't want a flood of indignant letters from people with too much time on their hands.

Top Gear is British. Therefore there can't be a "British Version" of it. 5th gear is also British, and is a great show, but has been in re-runs on Speed for a very long time. Also, they moved it to early morning or some crap time slot like that.

I like both shows. Watching either of those followed by, say, "Motor Week", makes me want to move to England or shoot myself. More like Motor Weak, really.

Well, I hope it does come back. Was all ready to watch it last night and tivo it and it didn't come on. Then I checked for upcoming episodes and there were none!

I could care less if the cars are available in the US or not. Watching them beat the crap out of cars and do goofy tests was more than enough to keep me watching.

great another wonderful program taken off the air and something bland and boring will replace it.

i really hope that they do bring it back. this was a car show that both my gf and i could watch together and enjoy. who cares that it had cars we would never get let alone drive here in the states. do we always have to focus inward? cant we look across the ocean and see what the rest of the world is doing?
i say please for te love of god bring back top gear and while your doing that please just air the full uncut british version but keep the subtitles when they talk price in pounds so i dont have to keep my calculator handy to see what the price would be in USD.
