NJP5Guy said:i had a prob with the dealer as well. i had this ticking sound coming from under the car. i took it to them and they said they couldnt duplicate the sound...even though they never drove it(a tech rode with me and he said he heard the sound but i know he really didnt he was just humoring me). they proceded to say that it was due to the aftermarket exhaust. i figured it was something with the trans. a few months later, still had the sound, i was installing my short shifter and it seemed as though the sound went away but it didnt. i realized that with the slight play in the shifter when its in gear i could make the sound louder by moving the shifter so i knew it had to be somewhere in the shift linkage.
when all was said and done they charged me $63 for the time spent on the car. they didnt do s***. i said that there was no way it was my exhaust. they expressed taking it off myself and then coming back to get my money back...hell with removing the exhaust...too much trouble.
to this day im not sure what has caused it. havent noticed in a while cuz of the radio. even if the radio isn't on i think people think i'm nuts....i cant help it if i've got good hearing, right?
fight with the dealer every chance you get. they are not the ones who make the warranty claims...it is mazda. they just get compensated for the work. they dont like to do the work because they dont get paid as much as if it were over the counter with a customer. good luck.
MazdaDriverChic said:OMG! So its not just me?!?! I SERIOUSLY am starting to think this is a Mazda game that they have their "repairmen" play. (yupnope)
I have had my car in to the dealership countless times for stupid problems since Ive bought it BRAND NEW mind you.
I am so seriously pissed off right now because I am insisting to them I have an electrical problem on the left side: malfunctioning blinker, side blinker by the door blew, tailight blew, headlight blew. What does this say?!!?? Its all on one side..hello! Check it! All they keep doing is replacing the freaking bulbs and saying "we cant duplicate the problem so we cant do anything". ARGH!!!! (chair)
I went to the mazda website and reported it. They put it in their records. I am going to another dealership very soon to have this all checked out (and fixed!). If they so much as BREATH wrong I am going to have their heads on a platter! Seriously, they all think because Im a female they can feed me s*** and I'll just go "oh ok". WRONG! When I take my car in 4 times for lights on the left side and keep telling you I think theres an electrical problem....dont feed me s***! I may have some blonde in my hair...but Im no pushover.
Gag! Hope everything works out for you soon. Sorry to ramble and rant but this has really burned me up lol, and seeing somebody who got the same BS responces I have just tops it. Goodluck....
AlbNYPR5 said:Which dealer have you been going to? I am from Albany too. I bought the car at Orange and have all my service done at Cooley. Cooley has been pretty good about fixing things under warranty. I had the rear brake pads replaced under warranty because of a grinding noise this past summer, it's does it from time to time again now and they can't seem to find the problem. They made me pay for a half hour labor to diagnose it a couple months ago and after that it was fine until they replaced the control arm the following week. Once it's doing it all the time I will take it back again so I can hopefully get the calipers replaced and resolve the issue one and for all.
MazdaDriverChic said:Omg no kidding?!?! I bought mine at Orange too! Thats where Im having all my problems! That damn Ken guy..the Mazda Service Manager. He pisses me off. (blah) Thats all he does...all talk and no do.
Cooley huh?? Where is that? I know Ive heard of it!
Where abouts in Albany are you located!? Small world!!![]()
Sorry, but I have to... I can feel for you all regarding dealer service and warranty issues. They are all very accomodating when it is NOT under warranty and you are paying for the work.viVid said:I had the same "could not duplicate, could be your aftermarket intake" bulls***. This is my first and LAST Mazda... if I had a Honda, I wouldn't be having these dealer issues (no, I'm not gonna buy a Honda... don't even start).

As for Honda's, I purchased a 2002 Civic SiR (Canadian Si), the 2 door uber hatch, and had nothing but problems after about 8000kms. The dealer and Honda themselves were little help, even though there was obviously a design flaw with the struts and/or strut bearings (it probably wouldn't hurt if they would have metal bushings instead of delrin (aka plastic)). After lubing the bushings, then replacing the bushings, then replacing the strut assemblies, they would no longer look at my car, but the problem always kept returning! And I had not modified the car beyond a grounding kit! When I finally made enough of a stink, and tried to trade the car in for another Honda, the company sent me a cheque to put towards the purchase of a new car... so i traded it in for a 2003 Mazda Protege5 and have not had a problem in the 22000kms I have owned it.
Basically, in my opinion, Honda's are not necessarily better than Mazda or any other make. Nor is their dealer network.
Just letting off some residual steam...
AlbNYPR5 said:I had a bad experience buying my car so I vowed to never go there again. Cooley is on rte 4 on North Greenbush. Its about a 15 minute drive from Albany. I work at the RPI Tech Park so it's actually more convenient for me to go to Cooley than any other. I live just at the end of Washington ave extension out past the mall.
MazdaDriverChic said:Bad experience purchasing huh?? Ugh not good. HA get this, my brother just bought a 05 Mustang from the Ford part of Orange, and the same day my dad got a used car there. They STILL cant get my brothers contract right! Hes driving a brand new car around without a solid contract yet! LOL! Oh and my dad, has already brought his car in for service, which, of course...they couldnt find the problem. (yupnope) *sigh*
North Greenbush...ok cool..I'll have to go there then. Thanks!![]()
Not sure where RPI tech park is though... LOL Dude, you live wicked close to me! Im like 10 minutes from Xgates max. I live on Blessing Rd off of Rt 85!![]()
As far as I can remember, the 03.5's aren't part of this TSB. After 2002.5 Mazda corrected the fix with the new parts right at the factory. Check the TSB info to see if your VIN qualifies.garretts77 said:I've got some chatter on cold mornings too, but the TSB is for 02's. Have any 03's or 03.5's had the TSB done? It seems like they would be replacing with the same parts...
AlbNYPR5 said:The salesman that I dealt with was a moron. I put down $100 to hold the car on a Saturday. He didn't call me for days and the whole process took longer than it should have. Then the moron didn't tell the finance mananger about the $100 that I put down already or the cash I was putting down so when they finally draw up the contract I get there and its all wrong. So, I sat with the finance manager until they redid the contracts. But for some reason I forgot about the $100 I put down so it was never applied to the purchase. They never credited it back to me....Then again I shouldn't be too upset because I scammed the recent college graduate rebate out of them. Well, not really scammed I got my degree 3 years before and it was supposed to be less than 2 or something.
Funny thing about living so close to the mall, I never go there. Part of the reason we moved back to Albany was to be closer to shopping and stuff.
