Why isn't TXR3 better than GT3?? Do you think GT3 is accurate in ANYTHING it does other than car models?? I'm going to make a short list of GT3 innaccuracies since people think it's the most realistic racing "simulator" on the market.
1. Where's the turbo boost? At no point in the game can you feel, see or notice the effects of turbo boost. The car never breaks loose when you mash the pedal from a 30mph roll.....it sure does in my car though. Never any difference in acceleration either.
I can tell when my turbo spools up in my AE86 and on my Miata, watch the MPH quickly start to rise after the inital lag. Maybe the next version can have a guy push you back in your seat at home if you want it more realistic. You don't break loose cause of the traction control and throttle control. Turn them off in the options and then you'll see the realism spike. You can also buy the simulation tires if you feel like coming in last all the time. It's very very difficult with all 'video game' settings off.
2. Washjing your car increases your top speed?? In GT3 paying for a car wash after so many races actually helps your top speed. Yeah, that's amazing. Also, the same for the stupid oil change option...When have you ever seen an oil change done 68miles later that has netted a 20whp gain??
I think they put it in as more of a maintance thing. You can think of washing your car as checking tire pressure, etc. And it's really cheap. (I can't think of the price off the top of my head, it's it 100cr?) Also: Oil change is the same thing.
3. there are only 3 types of drivetrain physics, FWD, AWD, and RWD. There is no distinction made for LSD's in FWD vehicles. I remember the first time I revved up the MSP and dumped it...I was all over the place....and that's only about 150whp...imagine my surprise when my 390hp FWD car in GT3 was revved up and dumped...it just pulled. I got a little tire spin, but nothing like what 390hp would actually produce.
Yet again, turn off the traction control. You should try using my Civic TypeR before and after my LSD upgrade. The LSD gives you much better acceleration and more stable turning when using the 1.5 way. On the other hand, the full 2way LSD is hell on FWD cars, for the love of god don't get it.
4. HONDA CIVICS AREN"T RACE CARS!! Why do you need 19 of them in one game!
First of all, they aren't just regular Civics. The TypeRs are actually very good track cars. Light weight, decent N/A hp, and soild brakes. They clean up in the FF clases and you need them for the TypeR races till you can get a NSX. (My NSX OWNS by the way. I have a championship white fully modded, black stock, and blue/green stock one)
p.s. Don't even get me started on prices of cars and parts. That is the biggest fallacy I've seen!
What are you talking about? If you are playing the game right, you only need to buy aprox. 10 cars and can have them fully maxed out before the hardest races.
This is just a short list as I'm too busy playing TXR3 to go through my complete list. I do own GT3 and play it about once a month, just to drive the RX8....then I get pissed at the game and play something interesting like Sega GT [/B]
I drive GT3 for my realism car fix, and I will OWN you in Inital D verion 2, cause I need a fantasy racing fix too.
