Tires Again

Anyone suggest any tires for my 2003 MP5, everything is stock! I belive stock tires are the Dunlop P195 50R16. I hate these tires, does anyone have any suggestions for tires that will fit??? I asked many places and they say that they are limited to a couple of brands.

I have a set Toyo Proxes 4s on order.

Most of what people will recommend are going to be strictly summer tires. Keep that in mind if you live in a place where it snows alot.

I tried searching, and it is kind of tough by searching for "tires" or "best tires".

You are in the SF area, so no snow. Rain though, which is one of the problems with the Dunflops. They suck in rain, curvy roads, bumpy roads, turns, stopping, and accelleration.

I own Yokohama 205-50-16 AVS ES 100's. Got 20K+ on them. They are wearing down, and I am getting them again. We get major rainfall here, and I have never had a problem with these tires!

They sound ghetto but they're quite sticky, good treadwear, and made by Bridgestone.

Proxes 4's are great tires. Ran them in the snow with no problem. They do not hydroplane at all. Dry grip is great.

I only have one day of driving experience in heavy rain with 205/50/16 BF G-Force TA KDW2 but they behaved very nicely. They're much stickier than the OEM Dunlops on dry roads and they ride softer also. The tread pattern looks mean and many people had complimented them. Over 1k miles and yet to squeal them. $500 shipped from Tire Rack.

lol I just got my protege yesterday, used 40k miles on it, the stealership put new tires on it...im riding around on Brand Freakin new Toyo Proxies 4...lol sticker was still on em too lol I love em

Wow! A dealership putting on Proxes 4's. Why doesn't the factory do nice things like that for us to begin with. They spend all that cash advertising Zoom Zoom and then give us expensive but bad tires. I don't get it.

Sears carries the Falken 512. I love Toyo's but you'll probably have to buy online as local shops often charge to much for them. Just browse through the Tires section here and you'll quickly find out what the top 5 tires seem to be. I've never heard a reason why the top tier shops (Tire Rack, Discount Tire, etc.) don't carry the Toyo brand.

I just put myself on a set of Proxies 4 from www.edgeracing.com . The prices were pretty good, and the tires stick pretty well. I am coming off a set of snows that were on the car when I got it, so I honestly cant compare as well as everyone else....
