uhmmm built motor is about what, 3k? (based on MAM's prices, i don't know how much Nick charges) then about 5~6 hours i guess to put it back in the car, so that depends on labor charges at the shop
i'd say the J&S is necessary if you are planning on racing the car every once in a while and plan on boosting over 10~12psi. IT WILL save your engine by preventing knocks. if you spend alot of money on your car with mods n stuff, this is definitely something you should get.
my engine was built by a local shop ... wiseco pistons were about 500$, oliver rods something like 700$ at the time, few misc pieces and gaskets, labor ... comes up to about 3k
It just cost me 8k for mine. I would try to get this taken care of as soon as possible though, to save you a little money. I had to get mine rebuilt because I put three holes in the block. That 8k included a new block, oil pump, starter (I put a hole in that too), wiseco pistons, pauter rods, clevite bearings, cometic head gasket, a regular gastket set, a new oem crank, machine shop costs, mechanic labor, and a few other things like a new thermostat, coolant oil, timing belt, water pump... and the unichip too.
get good parts, a good ems, good shop and pay to have it tuned properly unless you can do it yourself (but i would go see someone just to be sure) and add the j&s for extra protection and even though it will probably come out as a bit more expensive than others have paid on the forum, you'll have fun with your car while staying safe and reduce the risk of putting a hole in your engine or melting pistons or something
