I've finally noticed it, looking at pictures and flipping through the brochure...

when you pop the cover you'll notice a hook. its so that they can pull your car on a flat bed if needed.. you see those types of covers in BMW,volvo and such.

Furthermore, the hook to thread into that hole is located under your rear cargo area tray.
