oil starvation. had it serviced 2k miles ago, im beginin to think they didnt put oil in it...so mean while i have a spun bearing waiten for it to blow i guesss. it only has 66k miles

like is said in my other thread... exactly what happen to mine... you could always fix it before it breaks though

ya the dude said something about changing the bearings. is that job hard to do, if i did change the bearings would it prevent it to blow, he was sayin something like takin the pan off and you will be able to replace them??? help me out

is it just me or what? if i could count every single user on this forum that have blown their protege engine or have rod, piston etc etc problems i know it will be more than 10 users including me......im wondering the protege has a weak azz engine

The rods are weak in the proteges if your going to boost them. However my old MP5 had 170k miles on it on the orig engine and didn't burn any oil. Most people pop their motors due to spun bearings(cornering to hard with low oil), poor maint. ect ec. If you check your fluids and do routine maintence like you would any other car they will be great cars. Most people have engine issues due to lack of maint or common sense. Its generally one of the other.

ok so my question is lol is protege garages drop in a good idea or not? i just need it fixed. nothing fancy right now

I believe they come with a warranty, and I know there was a situation a while back when one of the engines was not as reliable as advertised, and Ken made it right. He's a good guy...I would go to him first if I was in that situation.

When you buy a used engine it always a bit of a gamble. There is no way to tell what condition it really is in until you tear it apart and start looking at whats inside (scored bearing/scratched cams/markings on the pistons for example). If you buy a properly rebuild used engine it will have been inspected to make sure all parts are within tolerance and any worn pieces will have been replaced and should be same as new really.

PG is a good place to shop, Ken is very reliable and is generally very helpful to members of this forum. Getting a used or build engine from him is probably one of the best places to get it from not because of the product but because of the help they will give you if something does go wrong.

Weak, if not taken care of. :)

This is true of any engine, I have right now a Mazda 323, 175000 kilometres and she does't leak or burn oil, compression is 170 across the board, but she is run on Mobil one synthetic and changed religiously every 5 k.

Pat.

My engine spun a bearing too, I feel ya. I used to always run mine on the low side for oil, as it got better gas mileage, but I forgot to check it for a while, and that's when things got bad lol.. oh well.

ok well more good news for me. last night at hooters my pass window got busted. didnt have alarm set cause my 175 lb rawt was in there haha and some kids broke in and my pup chases em, im guessin he got a good bite to cause there was blood in his mouth. BUT on the good side i went to the local mazda junk yard in sac and got me a window for 60 ANDDDD he just got a totalled p5 with 30k on motor and still in car, i ran it 450$ out the door... :) good deal?

Well the dog scored then you scored the motor because of completely unrelated reasons. Congrats.

yeah that's a damn good deal on a motor especially that low of miles....good find man

well good deal as long as the car was taken care of

and make sure you give the puppy an extra treat on top of the piece of ass he got.. +1 for a GOOD dog....mine would have opened the door for the d-bags

ha ya i know what you mean. mine is really territorial. so hes a dick at first if he doesnt know you but if i intro duce you to him hes fine haha, hes weird.
