The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

just got an e-mail from the vice president of mortgage sales asking how an ARM loan works...really wanted to send a Fry not sure if serious meme.

Wow, I can explain it to him. What type of ARM?

30 year mortgage w/ 3 year arm, first 10 years of payments are interest only. Pretty simple but he had no clue. Maybe he's having an off day and mixing it up with a balloon.

Swapped the motor in the MS6 this weekend. HUGE thank you to Jake, V, Dave and Pablo for all the help!

We finally got her wrapped up today. Went to fire it up and sounded like the starter died. Jake found a loose ground wire for the oil pressure sensor, tightened it down and she fired up. Took her around the block and everything feels good. So many vibes from the AWR motor mounts, balance shaft delete and light weight flywheel but I don't mind. So happy and relived she's back together now. Jake adjusted the map a little for the downpipe and now I just gotta drive like an old man while breaking in the new motor and clutch.

Yeah, They kind of went away from the tight end dump pass that was eating up yards and OSU did enough to win.

He's going to DD my (i can still say that since it's in my garage) MSP and turn his into a straight SMF racer

Well, why in the world would the coach continue using something that is working? Drives me nuts when that s*** happens.

Cool and now for the complete package he needs to get a trailer and a hitch for your former MSP. Nothing like hauling your SMF class MSP to the track with your DD MSP! (lol2)

Congrats Evan and at least it was an easy fix for getting it fired up. But I have to admit I believe you had an alterior motive for swapping the engine. I think you just wanted a pic of yourself standing in an empty MS6 engine bay giving the (2thumbs) lol

You and me both. I've got to order my new set yet.

Putting them on the stock wheels and getting a new set for summer or do you have something else planned? My two sets are in the shed and will be going on the cars one night this week or over the weekend.

The bolt pattern on the ST is different from the 3, so I was going to buy another set of steelies and swap my current tires over. But Sohan was looking for some and they'll fit his car perfectly. I thought about it and I can get wheels and tires that are suited for my car without fumbling around swapping tires and then trying selling the old steelies while also helping out another member. It'll cost a little extra overall but the time it will save me is worth it.

Ok, wasn't sure if you were using the stock ST wheels for winter use and swapping winter rubber onto them or picking up an alt. set for winter use. At least you can help out another member with the set from the 3.

No way. It's cheaper to have another set than buy 18" snow tires, plus it saves the wear and tear on the wheels and the beads on the tires.

Hooray!

^Do it and enjoy. Second time today I've posted this, lol.
Hmm, trust a bunch of college-trained engineers who spent countless hours designing and testing an engine or a motorcycle mechanic with questionable documentation and a website designed by a higherschooler in the late-90's? Factory break-in is recommended for cars that will be performing their intended purpose. A "hard" break-in may very well improve sealing at high engine loads and high power but guess what, it's going to kill the low-end performance of the engine. Expect loss of compression and oil blow-by at low engine speeds.

LOL old + Japanese + RWD != vintage JDM. It's definitely a great little car (ha) but not worth $2500.

I lol'd at the JDM. I think price wise it's high, but at the same time it's not like you have alot of choices for older car with little rust if that's what you are looking for.

Thanks for the link John but I kinda agreed with Jon on this one. Everyone has an opinion on the engine break in procedure. So I followed this one from Flyin Miata.

http://www.flyinmiata.com/tech/breakin.php

I'm going to change the oil again tonight (and installing a magnetic drain plug). Again at 100 miles, again at 1000 miles then will be good for 3000 miles.

My commute to work is much longer since I am staying off the highway, haha (all the procedures say to vary the RPM's and not to cruise).

The FM instructions pretty much sound like the link that was posted
