The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

haha... no, not really...

just alot of little things that annoy me having owned the house for 2 months now... shower head being so lowly mounted on the wall that i have to bend over to rinse shampoo out of my head (top of shower head is at eye level, and the lowered ceiling isnt much more than a few inches above my head) noticing all things installed in the bathroom are ever so slightly off level, most people will never see it but i noticed it and it now annoys the s*** out of me lol

wanting to personally tear out the low ceiling above the shower, gain about a foot of "headroom", extend the water pipes/ move shower head to the center of the shower and install a large rainfall shower head... nothing i cant live with but things i definitely want to improve/make them what i want instead of just living with them... it used to be below the dining room, living room and my bedroom cause it was in nice shape and nothing needed fixed... but now there are just alot of little things i would like to change/tweak to make it ALOT nicer and its just moved ahead of the other rooms as far as priority goes lol

Sounds similiar to our old setup but the shower head was at least above my head level. We still added about a foot of head room up top and then some down low by replacing the tub with a shower base. I like your idea for moving the shower head. I was trying to convince Tam that while we had it gutted to add a light fixture and run piping over to the 'back wall' to install a second shower head. Should have just done it!

Built in 1962, and kept that way till we bought it. That should explain everything, including the fact that our kitchen and dining room ceiling were wallpapered.

haha, that's what I figured. We looked at a few built around the same time too in this area with the same pink/black tiles but 1x1 and used for the walls, shower and floor! The kitchen was done nicely in a dull yellow tile with green cabinets. If you ever tackle that wallpaper I hope they sized it! Our first house had it in the bathroom and it took days of spraying with a vinegar/water mixture, scraping with a putty nice and plenty of four letter words to take down.

id rather deal with that than the stucco on all the walls and ceilings in my house... not one single smooth wall (for the time being) haha

Ugh! That s*** sux and don't envy you one bit! Could always just wallpaper the walls?

Ugh, I now hate both tile and wallpaper with a passion. Im strictly a drywall and paint guy, especially after dealing with both.

i wanna do far more, far more expensive mods to the house than i ever did to the car LOL

Agreed, it can be much more expensive

QFT!!!! Items on our to-do list are: convert breezeway to 2nd garage bay, front porch/landscaping in the front to help keep water away from the foundation, siding, pool, patio in the rear. And carpet is starting to show some wear at the seems so I'll be doing that sometime down the road.

So is home ownership even harder not to mod than your car?

Thankfully I'm done modding the car, so the house gets it instead. I think it's just as fun to work on the house as it is a car, to see it before and after the changes. I can't wait until we are done with the last few things though (flooring, some painting, small wetbar, and new couch for the basement).

Ya I saw your marketplace item when I was searching the forums. Do you know how much it would cost to bore the hubs out?

roughly $150-200. Chippy had it done once and Evan #1 looked into it before.

My wife's grandparents walls looked kinda funny so I asked them why, and what they said was the plaster was falling off the walls so they put wallpaper over it to stop it from falling off. So be careful with the wallpaper when taking off. Never know what's under it. There house was built in the 1800s I believe.

I'm working on a report from home today, but I am not motivated. I really want to research stronger starters, as I am now not the only one who's fresh rebuild Mazda6 has trouble turning over with the starter, but not by hand.

This week is dragging. Gonna need some boost therapy on the way to work today. Hopefully FB will bring the lulz throughout the day ;)
