The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Those wheels looked great on the MSM Pablo. April wants to know how much you want for those. She is just curious.

That is a very resonible price for anyone. I'll let her know.

I don't mean to clutter up the Ohio thread with dinner plans (like I always do) so how about 7pm in Akron. Someone want to pick the place? I don't know who has a good beer selection.

i love both of his cars, im just ******* sick and tired of him entering them seemingly all the time with the same handful of pics....

and you should enter when you get it put all back together this spring haha

If I spent all that money to have all of that work done I wouldn't have money for fresh pics either. I voted for the dude that cheated and didn't cast a new vote since it was pretty much a done deal at that point.

I hear ya, MonkeyAss. Plus I usually vote for the cars that the owner has built, not paid a shop to build. I always thought that would be weird taking credit for someone else work. He's got a sweet stable of cars for sure though.

Ever check out his build thread(s)? He does more work then you think and regardless it's still his money. Seriously, I thought you guys were better than this...

i never bashed the work or lack thereof or any of that, as i stated, im just tired of seeing him entering/winning MOTM with seemingly the same group of pics for his cars

Yeah, I'm subbed to his build thread. I just don't feel the need to post "OMG, you're my hero!" every time he updates it. Seems like the only work he has done with the latest FD is paint calipers and the IM. It's an amazing build, but I just respect owners who wrench on their own cars, not pay a shop to do it for them. No matter how crappy or awesome the car is.

edit- and he name drops, with direct links, to shops who are not merchant members or authorized venders on here but Antoine turns a blind eye.

Eh, not trying to be a jerk but it sounds a lot more like you have little respect for people who have the money to utilize shops. Not everyone wants to take 10 years to build a car because they only have time to work on it for a few hours every other weekend. Sometimes you just have to man-up and realize you just can't do something or don't have the time to do it and take it to a shop to get it done. This idea has crossed my mind several times.

I've no hero worship for Phil but he's a lot more involved in the build than you think (he does just about all the cleaning/finishing operations). The amount of research and parts tracking he does is quite remarkable too. Also, his name drops and links are no worse than you NE Ohio guys recommending alignment shops, body shops, and tuners so I'd be a bit wary about pointing fingers there.

Precisely, I have little respect for an owner who just takes their car to a shop. What in that should I think is worthy of me respecting them for it? That simply means they have money. I'm not rich by any means and don't play the whole macho game but I just don't see the point of someone bragging about something they simply paid for.

"Example, I have a $2k custom bass guitar.". Big deal, just means you have money to pay a builder to make it for you. And most of the time those bassist aren't any good anyway. Probably holds true for most shop built cars, the drivers just hard park them and show them off. Meh, that doesn't impress me, regardless of how much money you have invested.
