The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Precisely, I have little respect for an owner who just takes their car to a shop. What in that should I think is worthy of me respecting them for it? That simply means they have money. I'm not rich by any means and don't play the whole macho game but I just don't see the point of someone bragging about something they simply paid for.

"Example, I have a $2k custom bass guitar.". Big deal, just means you have money to pay a builder to make it for you. And most of the time those bassist aren't any good anyway. Probably holds true for most shop built cars, the drivers just hard park them and show them off. Meh, that doesn't impress me, regardless of how much money you have invested.

just to be difficult (cause ya know, we have an image to keep of hating each other hahaha)

by your logic ^ shouldn't you have hated Sahlens last year for shelling out the money to buy Speedsources RX8's or hated Freedom or I-moto for just shelling out the money to buy ms3's from Speedsource

I have to say I agree with you Evan. I un-subbed from his build thread because there were too many people swinging from his nutsack.

I think it's getting a little too pretentious in here for me.

I didn't realize you were less of a man for paying someone to do something for you. Excuse me, as I have to go out to the backyard to butcher a cow for burgers tonight...

dude can i come help butcher??? i love some fresh steak tar tar hahahaha

I never used the term "hate" or "less of a man", mind you. I was talking about "respect". And to that I don't have any for shop cars. That doesn't mean I hate you or you're less of a man. I personally am just "meh." about the person. I don't hate anyone.

And Sahlens is dead to me. hahaha

Now Aretha Franklin is stuck in my head.

Lol. I kinda felt the same way after they left, but that's racing I guess. They have had race cars from multiple brands. I'm more of a SpeedSource kinda guy. I do agree with Evan to an that most people who pay for their work usually can't drive or at least not as well as the person who knows their car from the ground up. To each their own. It is more enjoyable knowing that you put all that wrench time yourself to make something bad ass.

I bet Sebastian Vettel wouldn't be able to work on his car...

To Levi's point, I agree that showing the same pictures everytime you enter MOTM is annoying. Hell scmp3 won with a picture from the dragon last summer and the month he won a new front subframe was being welded on to his MSP.

As far as him sending stuff out to be worked on, his deadline was SEMA with it being a show car. That RX-7 shoudn't be allowed to the MOTM contest but that's my .02

Who are we talking about?

And, speaking of MOTM I always wanted to enter but I figured I don't think I have any chance of winning without an OMG list of mods.

I vote for the cars with the most unique work done to it, not simply a long list of parts they bought. It all comes back to this "respect" conversation again. I would vote for Justin's KLZE swapped protege since that is a lot more work than an MSP with a ton of bolt on parts any monkey can do.

ps- I'm not mad or trying to pick fights with anyone, just typing/saying what I think, which is what the forums are for anyway. If we were all having this conversation in person no one would be getting upset or anything, we will still be joking around and busting eachothers balls. But it seems when something is typed on the forums/FB it can take a different meaning and people can get really hostile really quickly. haha :)

So back to Mazda stuff.....

I need a recommendation for a new serpentine belt. I'm going to go ahead and replace it next week while getting my oil changed. Should I go Mazda oEM or get one from Advance?

OEM, I've had nothing but trouble with non-oem belts. It could just be me.

What are your thoughts on clear bras? For cars, clear ones on women are pointless.

My dad has had it on the last two cars he's owned and they make a difference. Wish I had it on the Mazda, that's for sure.

I seriously LOL'd at that. While it sucks to see them leave Mazda I kind of can't blame them. Yeah the new diesel 6's are neat but I don't see where they're going to fit in after this season with the ALMS merger.

There's certainly something to be said about being unique. However, in the end a Protege is still a Protege. No offense to Justin or anything because his is seriously one of my favorite. I hate to say it but the stock Porsche 911 GT3 over there is going to draw my attention more than a Protege with a KLZE in it. FWIW, Phil's latest FD is truly unique no matter how you look at it and whether he did the work or not. I'm incredibly envious at his front end setup.
