Mazda hasn't announced when the diesel engine will be available in the US or in what car...yet.QUOTE]

one of the attendees at the NJ Mazda Corral mentioned to me that he's waiting for the Skyactiv Diesel in the CX-5 to come out ... not sure where he got his info from ...

That would be nice. Especially if it still has a couple turbos on it!

It was Buemi wasn't it? Suspension failure caused it.

Yeah I believe so. Most of the time you never really know what happens when it comes to F1, or at least what caused it to happen.

the CX-5 has the diesel in other markets, so there have been plenty of rumors that it will hit here as well.

Yeah. In the CX-5 public release, they mentioned a Skyactiv diesel being available for other markets, and possibly the US.

I really like the one lap at a time format. In my mind the limited number of chances at the course really separate the good drivers.

I like having 5 runs, but I've learned that 3 runs like nationals is what's seperates the men from the boys. You have to get there early (Adam), learn the course, look way ahead when driving, and adapt to the course in a short amount of time, where as on a track the layout is always the same. Even track guys admit to autoX being harder soetimes, because there is no making up time. Really it is like qualifing for a race. You want the fastest lap with limited runs. I love it and my wallet loves it too!

Looks like the tires came off the front of the car ivan.

I laughed so hard when I read that, Jake.

And thanks for that heads up, Marlon. That's pretty sweet that you can do your own e-check now. Now if only my cars would pass in two years...

The Milly has a CEL for a knock sensor (huge PITA to swap with the KL) and the P5 will be swapped and boosted by then. Hopefully Tessa will have a big girl job and we'll have our own house by then. haha

Ut oh! Looks like Evan and Ivan both beat Adam. Next time I'm waking your ass up early with me so you can walk the course more :)

I've been meaning to ask you but what the hell happened to that F1 car in your signature's GIF? I've watched it a few hundred times by now.

They were trying a new pair of uprights on that car to change the geometry at the front some. There was apparently an issue with the molds for that particular set of carbon uprights and at the fastest part of the track as he stood on the brakes, the front fell off.

Bwahaha. Stupid cones. I could have been three or four spots higher in the novice ranking if I didn't hit that cone on the last run. Don't even get me started on my bad driving. This autocross stuff is going to bring the competitive side out of me little by little and the best part is that I'm having a ******* blast doing it!

That's crazy. That video made me laugh really hard though. Thanks for that.

that ****** blows. my second run i didnt dnf. they said i didnt and my time was only a 69. ****. i have never dnfed anywhere but the airport. it happens all the time there for some reason.

also, i got people to cover my shifts saturday and sunday. so i will be in attendance to mid ohio. SCORE!

Just want to let you guys know that if you are catless like me and have to have an e check, go to the Twinsburg Self Serve E-Check Check it out, 24/7 365 days a year

Ugh, that sucks it's not for OBD1 as well! That would be pretty funny if they just had rollers in the middle of the parking lot and a drive up kiosk... I wonder how much an exhaust cutout would help the sniffer... OBD2 is lame.

You can make a P5 handle just as well, if not better than an MS3...

Oh, getting the P5 to handle like an MS3 isn't hard. Just throw a dead cow in the trunk and undo both of your tie rods.

Hey Ivan, I know this discussion happened before but what did you do to change your boost levels that puts you in SMF?

I agree though the MS3 handles surprisingly well. It absolutely needs a much bigger RSB.

The Hypertech tune raises the boost as does the downpipe even on stock tune. I have the Hotchkis that I bought from Pablo for the rear. I think that I will be trying the middle setting next time out. It was on the lowest setting for the auto-x.

Well I'm fairly positive that hardware changes that raise the boost are OK. So if you adjust the tune to leave the boost the same you'd probably be OK in STX.

Edit: Nevermind aftermarket intercooler isn't allowed. Ignore me.

Lol thanks for trying to help out but even if I had stock intercooler, the Hypertech isn't adjustable so I couldn't adjust the tune. I'm happy with where I am right now. There is still a TON of stuff I can do to the car while staying in SMF but that is a while off. If I want to get to the point where I'm competitive, I have to work on the driver mod more than anything else.

From what I've heard it is confirmed that the CX-5 is getting a diesel engine in 2013. I'm curious if they haven't held off putting it on sale to release it with the new diesel engine.

Not trying to sound like a speed3 fanboi but wtf are you talking about? Sure, it weighs 400 lbs more but it's no slouch in the handling department.

Ivan, Wes just hates new cars... he will always bash any new car as he feels the 80s was the pinnacle of automotive engineering and design haha

while the speed3 in stock form can be a bit piggish at times and push in corners, throw a rsb (i like the tripoint bar the best) and BAM the car comes around and handles pretty damn well
oh and comparing a turbo car to a non turbo car isnt the most fair comparison either... its more comparative with an NA 3 and protege5 if you want to talk weight differences and in that case the difference is rather nominal ~100lbs (i am using my knowledge on first gen 3's for that comparison, the GenPu could be heavier, i really dont know haha)
