The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Hmmm... My dad just offered me to buy his 2010 Mazda3 GT w/ 6speed (Mayhem, haha) for $300 a month @ 4 years since I mentioned I want to buy a daily driver next year. He still owes $17k on it and he wants to buy a Jeep. He's been going through this midlife crisis for quite a while. Haha!

It's a great deal but there is no bloody room at the house for yet another car, especially since Ivan wants a winter car too. I've got some thinking to do...

You should do it!!!

We'll be adding to our tire warehouse thanks to Eric Meyer, Pirelli and Hoosier Slicks! 235/40/17......2 sets on the way from Indy. We'll be lending a hand @ Mid-Ohio this weekend with Eric's effort.

They're too fat. K20 EK hatch!

^ so a car that is going to be used as a DD and weighs around 2800-2900lbs with 165hp is too fat??? your 626 is probably about the same weight and probably 50 less hp....

Do it!!! But would this relegate the KLP5 to winter duty? Not a bad little winter beater, like Mahk's turboed P5 winter beater. lol

True...makes sense with all of the upgrades/work he has put into the P5. So if he buys it can we call Evan a "rich b****" for having a 2010 as a 'beater'? (evil)

I haven't got a solid number for the weight of my car yet, I've heard anywhere from 2580 to in the 2800's. I need to get it on a scale. But the second gen 3's are just massive, it looks like a tank. I'm not a fan.

Why not have a car that weighs 2200 lbs and has 220 hp (with some work)? That's what I would do, anyway if I were looking for a DD.

because normally the point of a DD is to NOT have to work on it.... (hand)

plus the comfort of a 2010 car over that of a 10+ yr car isnt even comparable for DD-ing

To each his own. To me, comfort is coilovers and racing seats. I can't stand stock. I consider my 16 year old DD to be pretty darn plush, but I guess it's relative.

A harsh ride and racing seats is fine with me for a DD, but I also gotta have all those stupid convenience options like AC, Power Windows, auto headlights, etc.

Yeah, no. Haha! If I buy my dad's car it will be my DD and the P5 will be stored for the winter and become a track/fun weekend car. The reason it's so appealing is because I won't need a down payment or bank loan. I work with my dad so I would just give him $300 a month straight up and I can drive it and he would use the $300 towards his Jeep payment. So basically I would take over most of the payment (he said he pays about $365/month) and in the long run I would pay $14,400 for it. He said with the title/insurance and warranty we could just leave it in his name. Then once it's paid off I'll transfer the title to my name.

Here it is with my P5 last summer. He's buying 18" black w/red stripe Drag wheels/tires next week for it. It's got tint and a CorkSport air intake. Leather and all the options. I would probably crap myself.

But our car situation at home would be silly. Haha! If Ivan gets a winter car we would have 9 cars here...

But I think it's just too good of a deal to pass up. I think there is more to it with emotions and feelings and all that crap that my dad is giving me such a good deal. Which is nice for a change, heh-heh. But I'm always skeptical of good things that happen to me. I'm waiting for a "catch" or the other shoe to drop... Okay, enough about me. Back to Ohio randomness. :)

we had 4 people 8 cars and 2 motorcycles at one time at my mom's house. Everyone in my family owns 2 cars and at least 1 red chevy with V8

We are currently at 3 people and 6 cars. 2 in a garage, 2 in the driveway, one in the backyard, one in the basement (found out a 68 Mini has no problem fitting through standard double doors). It's like a ******* car safari around our property.

^That sounds so cool, I want a car safari! We've got 4 people and 6 cars (3 are mine, teehee), three in the three car garage, my grandma's rolla my sister is driving in the front driveway, and my Miata and truck in the back yard.

we have 2 people and 5 cars and maybe adding one more soon if everything works out.
