The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

oooooooooooooooo i'm interested... how soon do you want the money? I would need to make sure they fit

Pablo, they will fit, almost exactly like my OZ's do... the Oz's are 17x8 40 offset (yours would actually be in 2mm further from the fenders than mine hahah) but yeah they should fit without much issue

Anyone interested in Enkei RPF1s? I'm going to be lowering my car further now that I'm running 15s and these won't fit anymore.
I believe they are 17x8, +42 offset and 5x114.3 bolt pattern, Silver. They have a lot of scratches around the lug nut holes from the socket spinning against the wheel (been on and off the car a lot), but not many other marks on them. Currently have mostly used up 225/40/17 Hoosier A6s on them. I'll let them go for $650. Posting here because I'm not willing to go through the hassle of shipping.

wish I could, but I promised no more car stuff...That's a great deal though

I would love to figure out a way to have a tow hook similar to yours, but don't think I could make it functional with the factory crash bar

Go to devils tower. It's pretty sweet. We put around 3500 miles on my dad's Freestyle the first week he got it on this huge roadtrip through Canada and the New England states.

You sir assume that I have more than 10 minutes to myself. 13 hours at the site today, I'm about to pass out now. Another 13 at the site tomorrow, then the 4 hour drive back to Denver on Friday morning... leaving the hotel around 4am.

What do you do at the site? Investigate ufo crashes?

HAHA Here comes the Phen in Black!!

Damn I want those Enkie wheels!!! I wish I had more money!!!!

On another note...I put the RX8 wheels on last night since I was sooooo anxious to drive on them (plus the weather is awesome). Unfortunately, the roads are still covered in dried up salt so I couldn't really test the tires. It looks like it rained last night since the roads were wet this morning. Hopefully it rained enough to wash away the salt!

What kind of tires did you put on your rims? I just got mine a couple of weeks ago but have yet to settle on some tires.

Kumho Ecsta MX KU15 235/40/18

I found them brand new for $88 a tire, so it was about $500 shipped. I checked the site I got them from yesterday and the price is now like $160 a tire!!

Man, that's a hell of a steal. The best tire I can find for the money so far is the Sumitomo HTR III's, which are $123/each on TireRack for the same size (235/40/18). What website did you get yours off of?

I was just looking at tires too if anyone sees any good deals on some that would fit 18x8 on speed3 let me know I have been using stock size 215/45 but I would like to go a little fatter and same height or bit taller but deff. not any shorter. The size crap is confusing 2 me if anyone could help with what size I should get and if there is a more common size that is cheaper ex. 255/40 is like almost the same as 225/45 I think ??? according to http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Ya I couldn't believe I found them that cheap, I thought it was a scam site but they showed up at my door 2 days after I ordered them LOL

Here is a link to my tires on the site. I just checked now and they are at $246 each now!!!!!! WOW.

Another good site I found is www.vulcantire.com

I did a lot of homework on this and it depends on a lot of things. The right next size up for the speed3 is 235/40/18. You can pretty much run this size without rubbing or having to roll fenders - as long as you don't intend on carrying a lot of weight in the back. People who run 235/40/18's only rub when people are in the back and the car is heavily loaded (for the most part). Any tire size larger will require that you roll the fenders.

IMO, 235 is probably the widest your should run on an 8" wheel. 245 max. My 235 tires on my 8" wide RX8 wheels are a PERFECT fit. The wall of the tire lines up flush with the lip of the wheel.

Did you roll your fenders? If not, you will rub with 245/40+. 235/40 like jsief said will only rub with too much weight in the rear. If you haven't, I suggest you do. It's actually reallllllly easy. Use a fender roller, like Eastwood. We had one at the cookout last year and I did mine without any experience. The paint didn't crack either, I used a lot of heat and went slowly.

The other issue with an 8" rim is that with a 225 tire, you tire will NOT properly be able to protect the rim. There are a lot of posts of guys running 225's on their 8" rims to avoid having to roll fenders at all, but they leave the rim too exposed and easily scrape or scratch it. IMO the 235 on an 8" rim from everything I have read is perfect.

And thanks Evan for the Delti site - I just picked up some Kuhmo Ecsta SPT's for $104/ea., LOL - and those were my original first choice (but were $140/each+ on the other sites)!

The with the stock bumper you would either want to use one that welded all the way along the bottom of the steel bumper (its not that thick so the length would be needed so it wouldn't rip out when being towed. Another option would be to make one up that bolts to the bumper mounting location. Miatas are lucky because they have bolt on parts available to buy.
After having this a few years and banging my shin on it a bunch of times, I would recommend a tow strap. These seem to be more popular now because they don't stck out and therefore don't interfere with bump drafting and don't get in the way of walking around the car. A commercial strength wheel strap for towing wrapped around bumper should work nicely if you could control its position so it wouldn't damage your bumper cover when being towed.

Im unrolled but if I got to I will dont want anything thats gona be rubbing after I do that though. I got the cobb springs which are only an inch drop but Im thinking Im goin to go with some coilover this spring/summer but im not sure. I need to get shocks if not :/ So whats a fat tire thats gona fit safely on my 18x8 but not rub on rolled fenders and not have a shorter sidewall. Thanks!
