The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Ok, so when I order my new swaybars should I also replace the endlinks?

I'd say yes, they usually are one of the first things to rust up. You can't really use air tools because it just breaks the little heads loose inside the ends, and then they just spin and you have to cut them off. They're pretty cheap, I believe the 3's are interchangeable with the Ford Escape, which is like 14$ or something at autozone.

Also, do you guys ever get tired of cars? I've not been feeling it recently. =/

sorry james I can't help you with that, don't know enough yet. Have you tried looking at the engine with it running or have someone hit the pedal for you? that's all I can think of.

I get burned out on cars sometimes, or find something else to take over my mind but i always comeback. I think it's just the cold weather. Can't work on or wash my car so i think that has some effect.

I'm whoring this post out everywhere, so sorry....

I've hit a slight roadbump. After installing the PTP pill, OCC, and boost gauge, my garage smells like gasoline. I did not work on the car in my garage, nor is anything leaking... One of the OCC hoses has a crease as if it is collapsing a bit. The car runs fine, with maybe slight hesitation between 3000-3700 rpms. My first tank of fuel after resetting the ECU was horrendous, but I thought that was normal--it always has been in my case. Any help with why my garage smells would be wonderful. Thanks guys!

Prolly related to you OCC heres a link http://6crew.com/forum/showthread.php?p=196037

So today is day number two I was told not to come into work because of icy road conditions here in Atlanta. Most of the major interstates are shut down because the city, state, etc... is not equipped to handle it. There is 1-2" of ice all over the place with about 6-8" of snow on top.

The worst part of this is I'm out of beer. :(

The best part of this is I live .5 miles from the office and I was told to not even try to walk to the office.

Sometimes I love my new job. Safety is #1!

p.s. Yes, I am still getting paid because I can work on things from the house.

The worst part that I heard about all that is that you're out of beer... and I'm sure stores really aren't open because no one can get to them. Hmmm. Well, if you lived closer, I'd say just come over and help me clean out my fridge. I haven't been in a beer drinking mood lately.

I always think it is funny when we get a dusting of snow up here and someone 10 - 15 hours south of us gets smacked with all of it.

Same here. The MSP actually handles pretty well in the snow.

got a code for exhaust gas not recirculating. I'm thinking and hoping it's the EGR since I already bought one on ebay

I have almost as much fun in the snow with my car, gas pedal, e-brake and turning the wheel, it's the closest thing to rally racing i get to do and all at around 20mph

I had a bit of fun in the BMW the last couple days in the snow, but the tires are kinda better than the car. I get pretty good traction most of the time.

Well, stopped by Big 3 to check out the progress on Spicy and let's just say, I was surprised. Rick did a helluva job with the new piping, front mount intercooler! the welds we perfect and consitent, the new slim line fans were mathced perfectly and he did not have to cut any supports to get the FMIC to fit. He did have to trim a bit of the bumper but nothing structually. The car is going on the dyno tomorrow for tuning withthe SS SFC, so we'll have some numbers and video tomorrow. Big 3 will aslo become a Tech Center for NASA Great Lakes too, so you can have the guys tech your car before heading to Mid-Ohio. If you need fab work or just general repair, check these guys out, they have excellent pricing labor!

You going to your dyno number in this thread? After seeing your car at Big 3 I am curious as to what you end up acheiving with your setup.

Yes, once Rick's get the tuning done, I will post the numbers, as I need to submit them for classification for NASA for Nationals later this year.

Join us @ Mid-Ohio in April for NASA. It does not cost anything and we'll have over 20 247 members on track in HPDE and Time Trials.

to reiterate what marlon just posted "it does not cost anything TO SPECTATE ..."

and back on the snow in ATL topic ... Chris, glad you chimed in, i was wondering how things were going by you. my sis lives down there and works for Air Tran and they are not quite as nice as your place. she had to call off yesterday and today because of the treacherous conditions and when she calls in to say she's not coming in she has to leave a reason, so she said "because we're in a STATE OF EMERGENCY!" ... geez, what more reason do you need? and it's true, they absolutely CAN NOT handle the cold weather, not even counting the snow, it's been cold enough down there for icy conditions and they have no salt for the roads ... they truly are crippled ... with all this climate change going on, i think they need to revamp their budget to cover snowy weather ... 'cause they are definately getting hit alot more than in the past ...

but glad to hear you are fairing well down there, at least you have time to walk around the winter wonderland and take cool pics! the pool looks neat!

To reiterate what both marlon and lauri have posted, not only is it free...it is very laid back with few spectators...no crowds like a professional race series. You can walk wherever you want around the track as long as you stay outside the fence. It is a great opportunity to see everything you don't see on TV.

...Although I suspect it will be much busier this year with nationals being held there...

These are the kind of people that live down here in Atlanta.....

He was at a gas station, why didn't he grab one of the many fire extinguishers and pop the hood to put it out? Then again, BMW owners probably don't know how to open the hood...
