The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Ok. Well make sure you have the essentials. Radiator fluid, new gaskets, bolts, loc tight, pb blaster, full set of metic wrenches, sockets, allen keys.

FMIC. I bought metallic's kit. I have PB blaster, coolant, all allen wrenches, vice grips, both metric and sae wrenches, 4 sets of impact sockets. 2 deep, 2 regular (metric and sae). My uncle also has a bunch of tools we can use. No new gaskets needed except for the IM (I just bought a new gasket when we installed the header). Loc tite will be bought. I have a supermarket and a Lowe's about 300 yards from where we will be working so that will help as well. Anything else you guys can think of?

Hahaha well just in case, I have them. I've been trying to inventory all the parts (which really sucks by the way) and the biggest problem is remembering all the little things. Oh I was also going to ask, what size vacuum line do i need to get? is it 1/8 or 3/8 or both?

God help us if we have to bust out an SAE wrench...
Seriously, aside from the random 23 mm bolt (*cough transmission drain plug cough*) I'm pretty sure the Protege can be stripped using little more than 12 and 14 mm sockets/wrenches.

******* 23mm bolt. The MSM has the same bolt, but it's in an impossible position to use my socket on. The exhaust is too close to get the socket and a 1/2" drive on it. I had to use SAE stuff. PITA!

If you think that's bad look up what is required to change the tranny fluid on the RX-7. The only way to refill is to literally pump it up into the transmission. I'm not looking forward to that activity.

That's what I had to do to fill the MSM. I bought the pump for it, but let me know when you plan to do it. My buddy who now works for Corksport sent me a tip to do it.

where in c-bus? i might actually be able to go..

It's east of Columbus. Blacklick to be exact. I think you said you had your wedding that day or something tho....

Vitamin Water. The pink one. Haha(squinty)

Sounds like a plan.

On another note, I posted this in the other thread but here it is...

Well today was an eventful day. Went home to recharge my K&N filter and once that was done, I headed back to my apartment. On the way home at a red light, A trucker decides to cut it too close when braking towards the rear of my car and he hits me before he stops. Now I have a bunch of scratches, a couple of pretty deep gouges from his license plate and the screws and I wasted 2 hours of my day waiting for the cop since it was second shift. I would have just gone on my way after we exchanged info and called it in but when my mom got hit, she was given false info and ended up not being able to do a damn thing. I should be hearing back from his insurance company tomorrow so hopefully I can get this all nice and repaired. It is also now loose not where the bumper attaches to the rear quarter panel but where the plastic attaches to the wheel well if you know what I mean. Either way, I'm not touching it until all this insurance stuff goes through. Luckily he didn't hit me harder and I'm perfectly ok.

Fish, that sucks!!! But you did do the right thing by waiting for the cop, even if you were a bit late for work. Don't worry though, insurance will patch her up all nice-nice and she'll be good as new.

Magnum, congrats again man! Are you moving or is she coming up here? Or is that none of my damn biznass?

you could get a cutoff tool from harbor frieght for less than $20. I might be able to make it out but i think about the only help i would be is using my car as a reference to how the stock msp setup looks

Dude honestly, the more the merrier. Well, I guess I can't really have like 10 people there but I'm sure 4 or 5 of us wouldn't be a problem. s*** we could probably even turn it into a meet. I don't know what we would do about parking though lol.

What turbo setup are you planning on running?

msp ecu? any piggy back?
mani, turbo, dp, intake?
Oil lines/ coolant lines?
Do you have a tapped oil pan?
fmic = metalic fmic kit.
