The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

I have a feeling the USB port has pulled away from the main board. IIRC, it was a huge problem with the GS3

That's my thought too, very common issue. Although it could be stuck in usb charging mode too instead of mass storage mode..which we can't change since the screen is broken. But there's other ways

Somewhat related, even tho he didn't get his phone wet..

You should look into automated backup solutions, in case this happens again, you can just grab another phone and go. I use SyncMe Wireless: SyncMe on Google Play
It backs up nightly to my Western Digital My Cloud on the home wifi. You can program it to only work when scheduled and on plugged in/on wifi.

Did you try violently shaking it?

(awesome pic, Sho)

I can try throwing it again, I don't think that will do much though

Also, thank you Thomas. I will try that. Also hate that this happened. Was my own fault, throwing a temper tantrum. If I would have had the case on it I wouldn't have had this issue.

no it just lights up the notifications led for a little bit then shuts off. I bought a little screw driver and am going to see if anything got disconnected

We got the CX-7 back from the dealer yesterday, the extend warranty paid for a new turbo and the vvt/ timing chain replacement. The car was in for a noisy timing chain about 3-4 months ago at another dealer and there warranty inspector denied the claim saying that it wasn't broken just loud and wouldn't replace the timing chain until it completely broke. The thing that put me over the edge was the turbo smoke , we went to an Indians game a few weeks ago and parked in a parking garage and were sitting for about 45 min. I started the car and we sat in line for 1-2 min and I shut off the car when I knew we weren't going anywhere, when I started it back up on the 5th level of the garage and drove down to the first level it looked like my car was on fire all the way to the highway. So the next day I called a different dealer and setup an appointment to bring the car in for the turbo and mentioned the vvt problem that the other dealer didn't handle and they said they would see what they could do. They had the car for over a week ,but I had a 2014 Mazda 3 sport which was actually a nice car to drive back and fort to work , it got about 35 mpg and used regular gas. not a bad car at all. Still happy to get our car back though.

Glad it worked out Marc.

We made a trip to C-bus yesterday to buy a set of '10 speed3 wheels for 300 bucks. Sadly, 3 of the wheels are marked where they were on the car, rf, lf, rr, and some other kind of mark on the last wheel that looks strangely like a B (bad or bent are two words that come to mind). I looked at the first 2 wheels when I loaded them and they looked pretty damn good. So like a dumbass I went ahead and loaded the other 2 pretty much without looking at them except inspecting for curb rash. Only when I got home and unloaded them did I see the B on that one wheel. I hope that ****** isn't bent, or I got ass rammed for 300 of my hard earned dollars for 3 wheels I can't use, because I made the mistake of trusting someone off of Craigslist. Keep your fingers crossed for me meeps that all is well with these wheels.

Thats insane! If the timing chain would have broken (which I highly doubt would happen) then it would destroy everything on that side of the engine and they would have a lot more to replace than just the VVT actuator and chain. I have been seeing more and more dealerships just use the trick to only replace the VVT actuator because thats actually what goes bad. Its really annoying as the whole system should be replaced to do the job right in my mind.

Any news Patrick? I'm guessing no luck?

Nope nothing so far. I do have a phone now because of my super hero though ;) He knows who he is... Everyone's favorite tech support!

I don't know if any of you guys know about kickstarter, or look at some of the projects, but apparently some guy wanted to make a batch of potato salad, so he started a kickstarter fro 10 bucks, and ended up raising $42,000+. What the heck.
