The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

whoot whoot. Congrats. And you're still on here.... lol But has anyone ever podercoated brakes? I want to get a bunch of stuff done this winter on my car to clean her up so she doens't go to the shitter

Fenton's done a few calipers. They have seemed to hold up pretty well on the one car that's been auto-x'd. Not sure if it's seen any track time. When he gets back from Ireland I can ask him about it for you

For sure. I think I need to give up the normal paint amd get all my s*** powdercoated

Not that I'm trying to reduce business from John or Fenton, but what's wrong with regular high temp caliper paint? I've done the silver P5, black P5 and MS6 with the VHT spray paint from Autozone and it holds up well. I just don't see the point in spending money on powder coating anything other than wheels. I'm a cheap bastard when it comes to aesthetic mods.

I guess the argument could be that the coating itself is less prone to chips from stones and other debris. Won't have to touch up the paint. Plus it will leave it with a relatively smooth finish like Brembos or Stoptechs have.

It holds up until you replace your pads and it scratches. I have some testing to do once I get the new gun but I should also be able to clear over top of decals such as the Mazdaspeed caliper decals. My car will be the test subject for pretty much all of my ideas.

Get acquainted to electronic nannies, they are here to stay. My dad's truck has a LSD rear end, and we turned off TCS and went to pull the boat out last winter, the engine cut power to prevent slipping (as opposed to using the brakes like the TCS does). Turns out it also had stability control, which you can turn off by holding the TCS button down for 5-10 seconds. Super annoying.

At least you can turn it off. They're a lot of cars out now that only allow you to turn off the traction control but not the stability control. I didn't have any of it in the 3 and I'm glad I can turn it off in the new car when I want to.

My anodized rattle paint has held up great on my brake calipers. A lot of it is paint prep.

I agree that prep has a lot to do with it but either way, powder coating leaves a longer lasting & more durable finish. Mine is Foliatec caliper paint which is one of the best out there but it still has a hard time holding up to taking the brake clips on and off.

Does anyone know if there is an alternative way to use fabric dye other than taking the fabric off a seat I want to make black. Might be my little side project for the weekend.

Alright guys, I need some help.

I need to sell some cars. I'm pretty thin (on car sales at least) right now & I'm thinking about doing some advertising. What would you guys suggest? What would get your attention? What would make you drive an hour to come see me over the Ford/Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram/SRT guy in your area?

Any ideas are welcome. I really need to start moving some more volume.

lol. some say he cant spell costume nor does he care. all we know is he is right. LOL

Well there's your first problem, John. You're looking for sales on a Mazda forum and don't sell Mazda's. Lulz.

MonkeyAss, I hope you get a legit helmet for your costume so you can come auto-x'ing with us next season at PittRace. :)

im actually in talks with a friend about borrowing one just to keep cost down on the costume, BUT i want to race next year, but alot just depends on certain things. too much going on this year to make time to race, hopefully next year is different.

Gah, can't type to save my life today. <-That was almost togay, lol. I would be screwed without a backspace button.

Not looking for sales on here as much as I'm looking for good ideas to use in my advertising and to spur on sales. Even gimmicks I can use. Like would a $20 gift card be enough for you to refer your friends to me?
