The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Jeez, you dont know carberatators?

Easy way, just think of them as a toilet, lol. They're really easy to tune.

That's something I'd like to learn more about one day, although they have the EFI carbs and intake systems now to retro-fit that seem pretty interesting.

Was just at the gas station getting some cold drinks, and this guy comes up and asks "is that your 3 speed out there?"

After some lulz and conversation, he asks about what turbo is in the car. I say k04 and he goes "s***...thats what i upgraded to in my GLI" and points at his jetta.

Too bad those k04's are better than ours...

I had an idea on my way home from work tonite. Any speed3 owners upgrade their rsb and want to get rid of their stock bar? That's an option that I had on my Protege and I was pretty happy. From the numbers I've read, that will double the tension on my stock setup.

There aren't many of us that get them. I've had a little trouble getting the dual carbs sync'd on the Bav, but for the most part they're pretty easy. Just regulated fuel leaks.

It's years done the line but I've been wondering whether to keep the Camaro carb'd or do an LS swap. By the time I get to it the new LT1 Vette engine might be an option.

Think of how small your wire harness will be with carb(s)! Hahaha.

The problen with carbs is they don't adapt to different driving situations. Major altitude, temperature, fuel quality, etc. changes? Expect to run rich/lean. FI with MAS and/or MAP, throttle position, etc. sensors can adjust for all of that.

With a carb you can typically tune to account for 95% of your typical driving conditions. Extreme heat and cold are fairly easy to account for. Altitude is the only real issue and even that can be taken care of if you have a screwdriver handy, lol.

Had my first ricer rev earlier today. Driving into my neighborhood, young kid in his tC with stock wheels painted white and a fart can slowed down as I passed him and revved his little lawn mower engine. I got agood chuckle out of it until I realized this is going to be my life now. I got a little sad then. :(

Why not just do a carb'ed LS swap? lol
that's an option

This is what I would have in mind with a LS Swap http://www.jegs.com/i/Chevrolet-Performance/809/19258267/10002/-1 Seems like the easiest way to go and In a perfect world I could get a new LS that comes with this type of harness pre-tuned

You'll get used to them

Idk $30? If I dony have to ship it. Anybody think thats a good deal?

Yes, good deal.

You will need speed3 endlinks. The studs that go through the bar on a mz3 (on my 06 anyway) are 10mm and speed3 (08 I believe) are 12mm. I went to a machine shop and had bushings made to take up the space, still working fine for me.

So... While working the autocross today, the corner that I happened to be stationed at had some pretty quick turns back to back to back. The bone stock Focus ST's rotated pretty nicely around them. Normally when I see a bone stock MS3 do an autocross, it's almost like they got all the understeer in a nice little package. Then I wondered, why does everyone hate the ST's when they seem to not push like a freight train in that environment?
