The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Idk $30? If I dony have to ship it. Anybody think thats a good deal?

Sounds good to me. I'll PM ya and we can work out arrangements. Thanks man!

Yes, good deal.

You will need speed3 endlinks. The studs that go through the bar on a mz3 (on my 06 anyway) are 10mm and speed3 (08 I believe) are 12mm. I went to a machine shop and had bushings made to take up the space, still working fine for me.

I kinda figured I'd need different endlinks. Prolly have to find the bushings and brackets as well.

So... While working the autocross today, the corner that I happened to be stationed at had some pretty quick turns back to back to back. The bone stock Focus ST's rotated pretty nicely around them. Normally when I see a bone stock MS3 do an autocross, it's almost like they got all the understeer in a nice little package. Then I wondered, why does everyone hate the ST's when they seem to not push like a freight train in that environment?
Because we gotta buy stuff like big sway bars to
Do that lol.

Oh well...the rear brakes on those won't last long since that's what they use to get the car to rotate

Because its all braking based. The issue is that if you take them on road course or even a short course for an extended period of time, brake fade becomes quite pronounced.

That and they have a tiny K03 with an integrated manifold design which sucks if you want to make decent (300~) power. Also, as the owner of a 2012 Focus & 2011 MS3, I find the MS3 has a lot more room in every way except for verticle cargo room. The Recaros are also a little to tight on me (I sit on them rather than in) & I'm not the only one that I've seen have that complaint.

Do I do an even trade with my used knock off black Ralliart seats for a red Sparco Rev seat. The material is a little faded, but thought about maybe dyeing the fabric black. Thoughts?

shouldnt have to give that a 2nd thought lol. what will the passenger seat be later then?

Gotcha. John, I can understand all of your points as pros for the daily use of an MS3 vs an ST.

So... it's braking biased, but there were no brake lights on while these things were making the turns better than a lot of the RWD cars were. I dunno.

It does all the braking for you to get the car to rotate

The MS6 does the same thing when the DSC is turned on (which is it's default setting). It applies brakes to certain corners to reduce understeer and oversteer. I always have that crap turned off. Let me drive the car, stupid computers! haha

So it works similar to traction control on front wheels applying the brakes the wheel(s) that need it?
" commenting that the car’s computer knows to brake the inside front wheel to help the vehicle rotate. In fact, the front does 95 percent of the work, he says, though that extra five percent braking in the rear is Ford’s secret sauce.

This trick helps create oversteer (a trait commonly associated with rear-wheel drive cars), while also reducing understeer – a performance robbing trait of front-wheel drive cars."

Get acquainted to electronic nannies, they are here to stay. My dad's truck has a LSD rear end, and we turned off TCS and went to pull the boat out last winter, the engine cut power to prevent slipping (as opposed to using the brakes like the TCS does). Turns out it also had stability control, which you can turn off by holding the TCS button down for 5-10 seconds. Super annoying.

I did find it interesting where Chevy proposed the C7 could out drive a race driver with their system on. That was fun watching Tanner Foust beat it, in the same course, same car, on Topgear USA

Friday was my 10 year anniversary here at ClearSonic. Boss called this morning to say congrats and bumped my vacation hours to 120 a year and 3% increase in pay. I like my job. :)

whoot whoot. Congrats. And you're still on here.... lol But has anyone ever podercoated brakes? I want to get a bunch of stuff done this winter on my car to clean her up so she doens't go to the shitter

I haven't but I know some people that have. Most powder coats have some sort of temp resistance, but if you are concerned, you can get high temp powder coat.
