The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

yeah right... that car doesn't look like it has 240 original miles, unless the owner just sat in it making go fast noises without actually moving it. "as is"?

Not sure how anyone could buy a Miata and resist the temptation to thrash the hell out of it through some twisties haha. That Miata looks almost too good to be true. I wouldn't buy it though, $9k can get you a lot of better cars (for the track).

so does that mean that Grand-Am teams are allowed to use Speed 3s till 2015? What will they use after that?

Good question. Would the teams have a loophole in still using the older speeds because the "3" is still being sold or would they have to use the "stock 3" and then add the go-fast parts?

I agree, saw the same thing on Jalopnik and was just reading on miata.net about it. From what I've gathered, it was in a wreck and front end has been re-done/painted. Notice there is no "Mazda" sticker on the bumper and the wear marks on the steering wheel lead me to believe it was driven a wee bit more as well.

Menchies tonight, anyone?

Leaving work now! haha

Maybe they'll switch to a stock 2.2 diesel 3 or 6? autoblog says they are doing the 3 diesel elsewhere and might here based off how the 6 does here.

I thought the gap on the hood looked pretty bad, and the seats look like they have more than 240 miles on them

I believe they have to use the same production engine that comes in the car off the showroom floor. So if there is no Mazdaspeed 3 (2.3 DISI turbo), they probably have to use a regular 3 (with the 2.5) and crank out a bunch of power without using a turbo. Marlon probably knows the rules very well and can probably chime in on this.

I looked closer at the pictures now and I saw the wear marks on the steering wheel too. Then I started reading the comments and someone said, "Does it bother anyone that this car is sitting outside of a body shop?" They found where the pictures were taken on Google street view. Haha the internet is crazy!

Didn't all of the 90's and 91's have MAZDA on the drivers side of the front bumper?

I don't think they'll switch to a diesel because I think that would put them in a different class? If that's the case, the Mazda 6 diesels already fill that spot.

I pass a new white loaded 6 every morning and I stare at it every time the lady probably thinks I'm a creep...

All good points, was thinking of the diesel but hadn't thought about the class change. I'm not that educated on the rules but would they be able to run the 6 in the current 3's class if it came to that?

Don't worry Patrick, you are not the only 'creep', I've done the same around town.

I don't know that it would put them in a different class, they would go from 263hp and 280tq(?) to something like 148hp and 330tq.

I've followed people in their new 6 a couple times. I'm ok with it

I got behind a guy in a CTS-V yesterday... If I had a bigger car I may have tried to run him over. He literally made every turn at 5 mph. Like he pretty much stopped before turning. Not an old guy either, probably 40ish. :WTF:

Maybe he was afraid to give it any gas. There's no way he was even on the gas turning lol.
