The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

yay. more rain. Just got a warning for a flash flood and it's supposed to continure here thru tomorrow. I was really hoping to work more on my car tonight.

Serious question, How should I do the timing for the cam gear? Set the #1 piston to TDC and assume the cams will be in place? I've only done it with the timing belt on when setting it to TDC then swapped belts.

This is a 0 miles OEM Mazda long block. I bought it as a spare for my high mileage MS6. PM me and we can figure out a price if that's the route you would like to go. No pressure. :)

I think I am just going to try and sell the car as is. Pains me to do it but it is what it is. May just hop in something cheap for a couple years and grab one of the new 3s when they hit. They will have to make a mazdaspeed version in that, the body is too sexy not to.

But.. what kind of discount do you get on a motor that has been dragoned?

How much are you asking for your MS6? Any rust? I think I met you very briefly at a Superfly back when they were at the Sphegetti Warehouse.

Off topic; Craftsman utility tool cart for $190 on Woot.com for today.

That looks like it would be pretty handy. I think Harbor Freight has something similar for less monies.

I have been wanting something like that but since my garage has a gravel floor any sort of rolling tool box is worthless.

Yeah, but this is Craftsman. ;) Just figured I'd throw it out there.

Larry, did Alex hit you up about picking up some RPF1's for him around Mid-Ohio?

Nope. I would be happy to help out though. Not that it matters but I don't believe I have met Alex.

I'll PM you the price, but the car is very clean other than a few wear and tear bumbs and scratches. The only real damage to the car is one of the metal exhaust ports was knocked out thansk to some dumbass who didnt put their grocery cart awway and strong storm blew it into the back of the car. There is no rust that I can see. I even looked it over last night when i went to the dealer lot to get a few things out of it. Its an 06 with only 64k miles on it.

Like a baws, as the kids say. Thanks again for the emergency rides to Napa!

Alex is ScratchandSniff here on the forums. He lives in North or South Carolina. He's a very nice fellow and sells a ton of Protege parts. So if you need anything, look him up on FB. I'll add you to his FB Protege parts page. Not that you're ever on FB...

Since you guys scour the interwebs for stuff much more often than I do, if any of you see a set of 15x7's in 4x100 with real ofset for sale anywhere locally, please let me know. I'm starting to gather things for the latest project.

Realistic prices. The most I would like to spend is what it's going to cost for me to get new 949's. ($129 a piece) Anything more than that for used wheels, unless they're awesome, is kinda pointless

I'll keep an eye out. It's hard to beat TR Motorsports C1 if you want something cheap though. I think they're like $98 a piece or something.

Edit: $94 a piece. Plus Kosei K1 +30 is on sale for $99.

Oh ya, facebook. I rarely if ever use it. I do log in from time to time for no apparent reason.
I was right I have not met Alex. I would be more than happy to help him out none the less. Should I PM him to let him know?

He'll PM you. He's working out some details. If you pick them up, I'll get them from you and ship them to him. Because that's how us Ohio guys roll. :)

Evan you should totally add me to the protege parts group... somehow- all i do most of the day is scour the internet for parts.

I saw a set of some sort of 16x7's on craigslist today- 4x100/4x114.3 but i don't know the off set. I though they'd look nice on the elantra we have. When there's nothing for me to waste my money on for the protege, i look for dumb stuff for our hyundai...

Brains, I would add you but I don't even know your name to add you. You can look it up on FB. "Protege Parts for Sale".

That's all I'll say as to not get myself or anyone else in trouble here on 247. :)
