The Ohio Auto-X and Track Event chat thread

I had an absolute blast. I thought the track was really fun, but I'm a newb so what do I know. The event was a little too laid back though. No tech inspection, the drivers meeting was simply "Don't crash.". And after the first two sessions passengeres weren't allowed anymore? Why was that? Some of these cats needed instructors or a passenger would have been nice for advice.

But all in all, I had a great time and will go back for sure.

A 43.3 was my fastest time so I was happy with that. That black STi stripped track prepped race car was in the 43's too so I'm happy with my time. Very much looking forward to Mid-Ohio now. :)

Here's video from the trackcross test and tune event.
The new alignment felt good as well as the rbf600, although the MTL in the trans felt a little light by the end. Mazda switched from a 75w90 to 75w80 for the 2010+ ms3s. Going to need to replace these OEM tires soon with only ~6000 miles.

Looking good guys. How many runs do you guys normally get there?

Pitt Race is like a mini version of Mid-Ohio, but it can be HELL on your brakes. Every single time I've done a track day there, I've felt crazy brake fade lol.

Something an instructor once told me for turn 5 is to turn-in a little bit later than you think you should. For my car, it sets me up better so I can take 6 and 7 quicker (ultimately leading to faster speeds down the back straight).

Looks like fun.

Just signed up for the Allegheny PCA for the Mid-Ohio event Spetember 5 & 6. Jamie Barone has too, which means he'll be here in Ohio for a week!

Drove an Impreza today, too much understeer but it has bad tires. My friend now knows a bit more about the car, he's thinking about getting a WRX but he's not sure yet.

Understeer everything! I had a similar issue. Couldn't get any front bite at all. Fun course tho!

How it really went down was Will and I were playing "you go first. No, you go first!".

Will went first! Should be a great event, looking forward to it, especially with the "First Timers", as I plan on making a few changes to the program.

It went something like this;

Will - I don't know, man. 50% chance of rain on Monday.
Evan - Hmm, I really should save my money...
Will - **** it, I'm in.
Evan - Well s***, me too then.

[laughs had by all]

It's down to a 40% chance of rain now. So it was a good decision.
