You can get a new shifter plate with the cupholders attached from Richard at Mazdastuff.com for about $65.

Pics?? Also, did you just use a regular hacksaw, and did you re-thread the top?
 
ill see if i can digg up some older pix of it but my cars in the shop*grr* and wont be out for a lil thanx to sum ****** deer as for the cuttin yeah i jst used a hacksaw my knob didnt threas on so i dint re thread it
 
I had wanted to hack mine off, but didnt know that I would be able to re-thread it again if I chose to keep the stock shifter on there so I just got the universal shift knob that has the rubber cap and friction lock system.

Yeah sure you could call it 'poser' if you would like to. But you know what I will take an automatic any day of the week. But that doesnt mean I dont LOVE how a manual shifter looks....(in most cases)
 
i wanna do this mod soon...but right now im having a problem with something else....i was paiting my interior pieces....and i took of the shift plate and painted it and then noticed there was a seperate piece to paint but yet i cant figure out how to take it off.......i un-screwed the screw on the shifter and triede to pull it off but it doesnt budge...any help would be appreciated....

here is pics of what i mean...im trying to figure out how to take the silver piece off....
