Terrible Fuel Cutoff - Please Help?

Hello,

For the last few weeks my car has been terrible until it warms up. The weather did get a little colder but nothing signifcant as of yet. When I first warm up my car in the morning I let it sit for about 5-10 minutes before leaving for work.

Through ALL gear, whenever the turbo wants to spool, my car experienced cut-off. It is a terrible feeling like the motor wants to fall out of the bottom of the car, the whole car jerks and sputters for a second or two. This happen closer to the top of 1st gear but it happens mostly in second. Even on the highway all the way up through 5th this will happen as well.

I took my car to the dealer and they said said I have to return my airbox to it's OEM condition. (I have a K&N Filter and removed the little piece of piping from the front of the box) I ran this setup for 2 years w/ no problems.

Any ideas on what's going on? Their diagnostic check said that my car is getting too much air? I know the air is denser and colder now but this is rediculous. Any feedback would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance

It's called fuel cut due to the Maf reading too much air and shutting off the fuel injectors.

a joeP fuel cut denser can easily remedy the problem. it can also allow you to blow up your motor if you start turning up the boost without proper supporting mods so use it with caution.

Thanks for the advice... To be honest I am looking to sell the car due to the fact that I need a truck for work.

Is there a way to remedy this problem in it's stock form?

If I go back to the dealer are they going to replace the air flow sensor when it is not needed?

If I get the joeP fuel cut densor can I fix the problem without affecting boost or maybe just upping it 1 psi?

It should not hit fuel cut in stock form. I suggest putting the airbox back to stock like they said and bring it back to the dealer.

I dont understand. I have had an aftermarket filter for over a year, and I have not hit fuel cut once, and I live in Minnesota for christ sakes. I have driven my speed in negetive tempetures many times. And all my friends with MSP's have never had that problem either. There has to be someting wrong with the vehicle, I highly doubt its becuase the stock airbox is not in the car.

Its got to be 35 degrees or lower for me to experience it. I just stay out of boost until it warms up.

Yea it is definetly not that the airbox is missing that front intake tube.

I can feel that there is something wrong but I was hoping someone expereinced this problem already and knew how to remedy it.

I hate taking this car back to the dealer but I do not know of any shops in my area that I trust to work on the car.

Thanks for the input

I'm missing that little elbow as well and have never hit fuel cut even in cold weather. That sure as hell isn't the problem. If it's under warranty, I'd put the airbox back as close to stock as you can get it, which negates the dealer's ability to b**** about it, then let them figure it out. Something's definitely not right.

He is only missing the elbow.
That sure is not a non OEM intake.

My car hit fuel cut for the first time monday with 30 degrees weather.
I have OEM box.

The guy who programmed this car was a drunk fellow.
How can you hit fuel cut stock?
What about the guys in the -20 degree celsius?
