system problem

okay well 2 nights ago im driving around i got some coldplay on nothing bassy at all.. and the subs were on low.. all of a sudden they cut out.. i was like wtf? so i pulled over 10 minutes later turned off the car and turned it back on and it worked for a minute then cut out again.. do you guys know what this could be?

system: two 12" pyramid imperial 1200watt subs with a 1200watt D class amp

ive checked:

all the fuses
all the wiring/ connections
Bought new 12g speaker wire (hoping the old wire was the problem)
checked the amp (works fine)
checked the rca's and remote wire

How long have you had this system and how hot was the amp when you checked it?

Please provide exact model numbers of the equipment you have including the impedence of the subs and how you wired them.

Honestly, Pyramid isn't the greatest brand and if all your wire connections and fuses check out and it was installed properly...you may just have a bad amp that overheats and shuts off. But before I make that conclusion, answer the questions I have listed above.

connect them to your a/c outlet in your house...that is always fun. Then compete with your friends on how far you can throw them off your balcony.

I thought myfriends and I were the only people who did things like this with our old audio equipment!

HAHA I remember hooking up a 5.25 speaker to my sub amp thats 700 watts RMS. Not a very happy speaker.
