Syn or Conven oil?

So at 67k, I shouldn't have any problems changing over to synthetic when conventional oil has been used up to this point?

Just make sure you use the same grade oil 5w20, 5w30 10w30 etc
from the manufacturer because the piston rings expand with heat to a point and the thickness of the oil makes up the rest, if you use a thinner oil
you might smoke a little since your rings are accustomed to expanding only
so much with heat. That is where the factory tolerances come into effect.

rubber gaskets? where are these rubber gaskets? I was thinking of switching over to mobil 1 from castrol syntec high mileage.

Stay with what you've been using, don't bounce around !

so after 2 full tanks of gas and running full syn motor oil, i have concluded that i have got better gas mileage with the full syn oil over the conv oil. I think im going to stay with it. What kind of Syn are you guys running? anybody running royal purple? i hear its a vary good oil but i dont no too much about it any help?

Guess I'll change to castrol synthetic blend, then full synthetic after that. :) The better the gas mileage the better for me! :D

I've got 3 tanks in on my Elf and I'm averaging about 2.8 mpg more now.

If you want the same oil, it now goes by the name Total, not Elf.

once you go synthetic you can't go back to conventional....

and mobil 1 ftw.

and mobil 1 ftw.

I've heard that to be both true and false. Got any more info on it? I've heard once you go syn, you have to stay, but then I've heard thats just a gimmick to keep you buying the expensive oil.

Question:
Mixing Synthetic and Conventional Motor Oils
Can you ever blend synthetic oils and conventional oils? If so, what is the ratio?
-- Julie Patten, Des Moines, IA

Answer:
Yes, synthetic oils can be blended with conventional oils. Several companies, including ExxonMobil, market synthetic blends which are a combination of synthetic and conventional oils. In the case of ExxonMobil, the ratio of synthetic to conventional oil in these products is considered proprietary information.

Seems I was wrong but I don't know why you would want to run synthetic one oil change and conventional the next. Or even do a 50/50 mix of the two. I'd rather have fully synthetic.

Only thing I could think of could be a change of owner or just being cheap. Run syn for a few years then switch back to conventional to save some $$$. I wouldn't do it, but I bet someone out there has and probably will.
