Damn!!! What happened to Kicker Solo Barics? I loved the 10" I had in my 96 Contour (F.O.R.D. in the true sense of the acronym) & It really hit hard. I can't wait to hear what that Dual 2-ohm voice coil L7 12" is going to sound like...

even the old solobarics where designed for SPL. the new ones just took SPL to a new level with greater cone area and the same diameter. but the square design just isn't good for SQ. the L7's get loud. that's about it. that's what they were designed for. i got to see/hear/feel 2 solo 18's on sunday:eek: wow. they were sick. the guy said it took 3 guys to install each sub:D

hey guys I checking these ed designs and the adire stuff, can someone tell me how you would determine what size of a sealed box to put them in. For example: the adire webstie say the brahma 10 should be in a sealed box 0.25 to 0.85 cubic foot. How would the sound of the sub change and what would be the best size box to make?

based on the efficiency bandwidth product, the brahma 10 will do better in a vented enclosure. but it will work great in a sealed box. supposed optimal box, according to win ISD pro, is about .25 cu ft plus driver displacement to get a qtc of .707. increasing the box's volume will get you more low end bass. with a .27 cu ft box the SPL curve drops below 100 dB at 28 hz, but when you increase the box size to .85 cu ft, it won't drop to 100 dB till about 21 hz. also, the smaller the box, the more power is necessary to push the sub to full excursion. in a .25 cu ft box, you'd need 2,000 watts to reach full xmax, but in a .85 cu ft box you'd only need about 700 watts;) you'd save money on an amp going with a larger box:D

Y'kno 1sty, I still think it's a damn shame that eD/JL comparison test you had planned nevr pannedout. Might'v brought you some more faith in the small guys. Of course they've got dick avaialabe at the moment, but when they're out later this month, I'd think a trio of even kv2's would be sweet.

Anyway, I see this thread's been resurrected a couple times perhaps. Got anythign together yet? How's that scooby treatinya anyway?

lol, they don't even have the right pic of the 34" sub. that thing is the biggest POS on the market. i'd rather have the square 18" sub that had 4 different voice coils with 4 magnets and each were DVC. allowed you to strap 16 amps to it(headbang) but same with the audiobahn POS, it'll sound like ass.

also, i'd like to see a CEA 2006 rating on that amp;) i'm guessing under 3,000 watts.

That Audiobahn sub and amp makes me laugh. I pitty the fool who buys one. Kinda like the person that buys a Pontiac Ass-tek. You watch commercials and wonder what kind of idiot would fall victim to the advertising gimmick...and then you see someone driving it. They just don't get it. They have been brainwashed by the media.

No one needs a 36" sub, you don't go to a stadium concert and see towers of 36" subs so why the hell would you need one in your car? Besides, the thing probably has an 18" cone and a 9" surround...a lotta good that does. ...and then you need 3 alternators to power the damn thing. I'll stick with my 200 watt 8"-10" subs thank you very much.

I ended up buying 2 JL 12W6v2s some time ago.
I never got around to using them though. They might at somepoint end up in the suby but with my schedual I doubt it.

just get 2 10 w6v2, i have 2 12 infinity perfects and they vibrate the car, but they are really meant for SQ, JL is known for spl and those w6v2, hit hard, 2 10s will rock that car

if you really want to get blown away get two 10" kicker l7s, they might not as pretty as the jl or the eclipse but they hit really freakin hard, im not talking the new L7s get the old school ones like from 2000 or so i know a guy that can hook you up

Thanks for the tips and hook up offer.
I am cool with the 2 12W6's for now and If I decide to not use them then it will be a single 10" illusion audio ND10 in the passanger foot well instead.
