Stuck in 4th gear?

i havent done anything really yet. im going to clean the lsd off today, bought some epoxy to fill all my engine mounts(95durameter) to fix all the motor movement. other than that i gotta wait for the tranny to get here

rear motor mount=evil b****

broke one universal joint already. i just urethaned the front and tranny mounts. gotta get that rear one off for sure beause it is toast. and its raining cats and dogs

Glad to see you are doing it yourself. Not too bad, just watch that you put that idler hear and shaft back in correctly. I put it back together late at night, then turned the tranny over and it sounded "clangy." Waited till the next morning, broke it apart again and saw I had that idler gear on top of that lifter arm instead if it riding in the groove like it should.

rofl. good thing u didnt start it up like that

ha, yeah. one of those laaaate nights, put together, turned over, and was like.... F!
Figured I would tackle it with a clear head. Good thing I did!

i know that feeling! i was up till 2 in the morning workin on the dam thing. my mom came into the garage and yelled at me and said go to sleep u look like a racoon! hahA

well im not sure what the idler shaft is. All i know is how i took it apart......and im sure there was an easier way than what i did. any on have pix of what silver_slotege is talking about?

i now have 3 engine mounts that have been urethaned.......
cleaned the lsd off, looked good, no cracks

That's the one I was refering to. You can see the little channel on the bottom of the gear. That lifter arm rides inside it. Mine was sitting on top of that. Don't mean to cause any unnecessary concern, just pointing out my stupidity. Haha.

so two small things fell off when i pulled off 4th gear

what are the small rectangular things that look like woodruff keys?

when i took the shift fork off, these fell out of something. i know where everything else goes, just not sure about these

ordered a new shift fork and supplementary tranny manual. cost around $70 for both. anyone know what those two peices are above?

Yeah those are 2 of three of the retainer keys installed in the synchro hub assembly. They're a b**** to get back in.

Why the hell didn't you remove the shift shafts and forks and then remove the gearsets as a unit like you're supposed to? This is why you buy a manual BEFORE you start disassembly...

well it was going to take forever to get the manual. i was going to have to take it apart anyways to replace the shift fork anyways.

my plan was to get another tranny but ran out of funds. so im gonna do it myself. how hard is it to get those back in? it doesnt look to hrd to do just make sure its done right the first time

i will get the manual this coming friday. hopefully it will walk mee through all the steps.

the synchros are in great shape. the teeth are still pretty sharp. thanks for the help Maxx
