What do i need to do for winter storage of my speed3. I have a daily driver so i was gong to drop my insurance to storage insurance for the winter. What should i do to prep the car. I was planning on putting the car on carpet so the tires keep. And i can start the car during the winter too.
Let me know what you think.

Leave it on the road, drive the beater when the weather sucks... so you dont go insane driving a sh*tbox from nov-feb

There is still something im confussed about. Many people say fill the tank up with gas and add additive. And other say drain it out. Not sure what to go with.

i would fill it up and add a stabilizer. dont want condensation getting into the fuel system, im sure there are seals in the fuel pump that need to be kept from drying out as well

+eleventy.

Top off the tank and add Sta-bil. You can either leave the car up on jackstands or spring for these Flatstoppers to prevent flat spotting the tires. Unplug the battery. That should be enough to last for a winter. Make sure when you do take it out of storage to change the oil.

i'd still start it every so often. what's gonna happen after a while is all the oil is going to succumb to gravity and find it's way to the oil pan, which means startup might create a lot of direct metal to metal contact

to prevent that you could do a "priming" by removing the connectors for the spark plugs and crank the engine for a few seconds. this will run the oil pump (and put oil through everything) but in a slow fashion instead of immediately going to high rpms

also, it's just good to keep things from freezing (not as in temp). some valve springs would be compressed for a long time and they would lose their tension.

of course, most of this info is based on theory and i don't have much experience with a car being left static for X amount of time. all i know is i would drive it every once in a while

1) on jackstands and tires off the ground
2) change oil
3) get a battery drip charger...and start it once every two weeks...keep things turnin.

I would not go too fancy with it...just keep it turning and its good to go.

or move down south..like me

If I'm not mistaken (I've never tried it), you can accomplish the same thing by holding the accel pedal to the floor while cranking the engine.
