i'd still start it every so often. what's gonna happen after a while is all the oil is going to succumb to gravity and find it's way to the oil pan, which means startup might create a lot of direct metal to metal contact
to prevent that you could do a "priming" by removing the connectors for the spark plugs and crank the engine for a few seconds. this will run the oil pump (and put oil through everything) but in a slow fashion instead of immediately going to high rpms
also, it's just good to keep things from freezing (not as in temp). some valve springs would be compressed for a long time and they would lose their tension.
of course, most of this info is based on theory and i don't have much experience with a car being left static for X amount of time. all i know is i would drive it every once in a while
