2006 MazdaSpeed 6
Ok, So I have an Alpine IVA-D100 that I want to install in my 2006 Mazdaspeed 6 but here is my problem. I took it down to the local shop and after a few hours they called me and said they could build me a dash kit, since they cannot find one for this car, but second they were unable to move forward with the installation because the heater controls and the hazard controls are all somehow powered from the stock bose deck. I guess my question is, Does anyone know of where I can get a dash kit and especially a wire harness for the 06 Mazdaspeed 6?

Part Numbers: Metra: 70-7903, 71-7903

These are the only harnesses I've found. Does anyone know if these will work in a Mazdaspeed 6? If so, do they take care of the heater, hazard, etc.?

Metra is comming out with a dash kit with full working harness for your 2006 M6.
Here's a link to the one that I ordered for my 2004 M6.

The issue with that kit is it does not match the dash/console finish in the Mazdapseed. As far as I know, if you want to go aftermarket with the MS6, you'll have to go custom. Your best bet would be to talk to local installers and see what they'd do.

I think the thing to do in the MS6 is to keep the stock headunit and use something like the JL Audio Cleansweep, or the Rockford ThreeSixty. Both of those will allow you to add auxillary inputs for additonal audio/video sources.

The actual dash kit isn't my problem right now. I have an installer that is going to do a custom job for my touch screen. It's the harness he didn't know what to do about, with the whole heater/hazard powered from the stock deck. Someone's got to have replaced the stock deck in the MS6?? What did you guys use?

A lot of msp6 owners on another mazda6 forum board are waiting for the new Metra kit to come out, cause it will match the 2006 Mazda6, and yes Speed6 dash.
And like the Metra kit for 2003-2005 m6's, it will come with a harness that will take care all of the HVAC controles, and be able to input your own message on the center LCD display.
Take a look at the picture in my link again in my previous post.
I got a Clarion VRX755VD DVD player with touch screen, and I'm using the Metra kit.

I'm in the same boat as you Silver. Guess we have to wait. :(
The stock stereo setup is just plain lame for anyone that at all serious about their music.

According to sources at forums that cannot be named on this forum, the Bose head unit puts out a flat signal at 2v RMS. Unless you need some trinkets and do-dads you might as well just use the stock head unit with aftermarket amps and speakers. That's my plan at least.

Now for the base level head unit...you would need an EQ such as the JL Cleansweep or RF 360 to compensate for the non-flat frequency response of the deck.

Good news - the kit is released. Bad News - it doesn't work on the speed6. It only works on regular 2006-2007 6's. I had to return 2 kits back to Metra today (they thought the first one was defective). They failed to realize that the speed6 were made in japan and the regular 6's here in the states. All of there testing was done on a regular 6. (sad1)

I'm glad you just told me that. I was just about to order one. Thank you. I guess I'm going to have to continue to wait.
