Steamed!!

get up to 135 and you'll feel it
anyways could you give me a link to that site
i found a boost controller but i've never seen a boost & speed controller

Well, I can't say for sure. I had an MP3, and I can say for sure that they didn't have one. I would think the MSP doesn't either, but I can't say because I don't know.

What you guys are probably experiencing is the "CUT" at that high of a speed. It prob is not a speed limiter but rather in 5th gear you guy's are moving enough air to bottom out the MAF's voltage limit. It is like when you run too much boost and bottom out the meter. It will just go them feel like you hit a brick wall then come back on.There is a rev limiter but I doubt you are even getting near it.
I gaurantee this is what is happening.Even at stock boost levels or slightly increased boost levels,in 5th gear at that speed you are moving a TON of air through the MAF and it is bottoming out.

THERE IS YOUR EXPLANATION OF WHAT YOU THOUGHT THE SPEED LIMITER IS!

ANYONE WANT TO ARGUE THAT THIS IS NOT THE REASON?I THINK NOT!

yes Matt has the correct explaination of the situation.

Chalk another one up for the educated tuner!:D
The only way I see around it would be to use Joe P's FCD,but that only would work while under boost as the swicth comes on only while boost is present. So when you would back out of the throttle at that speed, you would still run into the cut and risk damaging the motor possibbly?
Matt;) :p :D

dayum...good explanation matt. I never though of that. Of course...you could get an upgraded MAF, couldn't you? Could have sworn I heard someone meantion that...

You would need to get one that is larger in MM's and has an ajustability to it to work.I don't know of one that runs the way our system runs with the 5V-10V limit.I know they make them for the 0V-5V limits like most cars run.Mazda knew what the **** they were doing when they put this car together. They built it so that it takes someone with a real tuning mind to mod it past the limits they beleive it can take ,but of course they WON'T tell you that!If they would have used the normal MAF signal rate that most cars use,we could have simply hooked up am S-AFC or the HKS version and modded right past it with ease.
Tricky little bastards aren't they?
Matt;)

nothing but you kinda made it sound like you thought mazda did a good job designing the car

They did from the standpoint of PROTECTING THEIR (MAZDA'S) best interest. This sucks for us in the tuner world who have to learn to work around their design!;)

They knew what they were doing when they designed it don't ya think!
Matt:)

well kinda...but not really...the argument about the MAF you said itsnt really relevent as the same MAF is used in all proteges...you know what i mean?

I have to say no on the MAF as I have yet to hit a defite cut and I have had the car up there with the turbo a few times. 137 I believe.

i can't believe i just read 8 pages of s***. although i did learn something....retarded 8 year olds are more immature than regular 8-year-olds.

i saw my first (mobile) sti this weekend on the highway! he passed me so i HAD to try and stay up with him. i was surprised that he didn't totally embarrass me. he obviously moved away but i could still see him:)
anyway when i got to about 128 i think i was around 5k rpms and i'm pretty sure i was closing in on a drag limit. i probably could have squeezed out a few more mph and hit this MAF cut though. but it felt pretty stable at this speed, for what ever it's worth.
more stable than an s2k!

;)
