when you are getting out of your car, hold on to the door jamb where the door closes on to the frame of the car. that way, you won't risk sagging your door if you were to slip and fall or something. touch anything metal on the car as you are getting out so you can ground yourself and keep from getting shocked. another thing people have done is to take some downy, water it down, and spray it on the seat and floor mats. it works, and your car smells good... but you have to reapply every so often.
our fabric for the seats pick up and generate a LOT of static electricity. the old addage about how you can use your key to destaticize yourself doesn't quite work with the amount of static that you pick up. it actually hurts your whole hand if you were to destaticize that way. just hold on to the door jam on your way out and you'll be good.
