Hey, I've been experiencing alot of static zaps when I get out of my car, when I touch the door frame to close it. My friend has the same happen on her 2002 P5.

Anyone else experience this or do we just have electrifying personalties? (shocked)

Cheers,
John

colder/drier air does it...just ground yourself before getting out of the car...(touch the window frame as you put your foot on the ground, and you should be ok. (not to mention, these cars really build the static electricity more than any other car I've ever driven)

Yup, even on the other side of the world, i'm getting some serious static zaps. Some of them really hurt

when you are getting out of your car, hold on to the door jamb where the door closes on to the frame of the car. that way, you won't risk sagging your door if you were to slip and fall or something. touch anything metal on the car as you are getting out so you can ground yourself and keep from getting shocked. another thing people have done is to take some downy, water it down, and spray it on the seat and floor mats. it works, and your car smells good... but you have to reapply every so often.

our fabric for the seats pick up and generate a LOT of static electricity. the old addage about how you can use your key to destaticize yourself doesn't quite work with the amount of static that you pick up. it actually hurts your whole hand if you were to destaticize that way. just hold on to the door jam on your way out and you'll be good.

Tonkabui is right... but Just make sure you hold on to the door (metal) BEFORE you place your foot on the ground.

The other option is to just get seat covers. I got them, and haven't had staic shocks since.

I haven't had a problem with my leather. It is definately important though to touch door jam and ground yourself especially if your getting out to put gas in your car.

Solve this problem by getting those lambs-wool seat covers. The Pr5 is bad, but my old volvo with the velour-type seats was worse in cold, dry air. Never happened after I got the seat covers.

Ask anyone I know...I've been shocking people left and right since I cant remember when. The more rubber sole even on my shoes the worse the static gets. I even shocked the dog a few times where he yelped and ran away. A lightening bolt about 1 inch long came from my fingertips and shocked him right on the end of his nose. lol Kissing the hubby...don't even get me started. MANY times has he cursed my name from that...lol Hair on really dry, cold days....fly aways & sticking up from static EVERYWHERE. I'm surprised I havent started a fire at a gas station yet...they have warnings on the pumps that scare the crap outta me. lol

i havent had this issue yet,, Although i have replaced my stock fllor mats with rubber water rentension mats, maybe that discharges any static before i get out.

also IMPORTANT TO DISCHARGE YOUR SELF BY TOUCHING METAL ON CAR BEFORE PUMPING GAS, I saw real TV video show where this lady combusted when she pumped gas due to static electricity.
