Starting Over

The 'O' rings?
Haha, no. The "plugs." I was wondering why they were fitting so loose, thought nothing of it until I found them on the floor. I was cussing up a storm.

I had one of those reactions the other day when I was replacing a mobo in a laptop. I put all 23 screws in and was going to put the keyboard screws in and I dropped on into the laptop somewhere. Had to take the damn thing apart again. Needless to say I can disassemble a dell laptop in 4.8 seconds.

It's amazing how you think things are so complicated and should be left to the professionals but when you get down to it you're like "OMG it's just screws and plastic/rubber making everything look pretty." I had to replace my laptop screen. HP wanted $800. I bought a new one for $150 on ebay and did it myself. She's a beauty.

I'm in the middle of fixing my buddies 93 camry. It helps when another person checks out the car if you're doing too much (scratch) . Even if they don't fix it, but at least point out some things. The internet is a great way to look up information to help you do some thing to your car, but it doesn't beat an experienced person being right there to see and show you. With that said, I need to look up information on this Ohm meter I got. I am getting .08 resistance from the ignition coil and I should be getting .36+ Need to make sure I am reading it right.

How many more times am I going to watch this? You guys can stop linking me to it now, I saw it like 2 years ago. >.<

Who said I linked you too it, theres a whole group of Miata people here that I thought might have found it interesting to see.

What are you trying to accomplish with the Miata, whats your goal? Is it that you want to be able to go light to light with a V-8, are you wanting the power for highway acceleration or are you looking to track the car?

...and even some (currently) non-miata people. (p5black)

....though my previous four cars were Miatas, so i guess i'll always be a "miata people".

...and i hadn't seen that video yet.

Tehehe..

SHE'S A PURRIN!

So, here was my issue:

This might of been dumb to do but it was the only way the injectors seemed to work. After spending most of the morning taking everything off again and putting back on multiple times I "tested" with and without these spacers. With the spacers the injectors would not sit all the way in the proper place but I tried with them anyway. Without, they sat pretty and worked properly.

The car is running and she is doing a damn fine job at it. I'm having NO issues as of now without the spacers in place. Everything is snug as a bug and it's time for a little adventure off the lawn.

The one thing that is bothering me is the idle but I have yet to reset the car. I was idling at a good 2500 rpm and after a minute of running it dropped to 1500. Usually I'm idling at 600-800. All I need to do is disconnect the battery to see if that fixes the issue.

Btw, Taylor, I was thinking the same thing myself but I really wanted to tackle this on my own. Obviously, I did ok without the assistance of a professional it just took me a little longer but that was more than expected..

VIDEO IS ON ITS WAY

Also, I feel like a child compared to you guys. You are putting tons of stuff in and playing with things far more complicated than injectors..but I'm about to get my time again. No more Xede so this time it should go more smoothly..

Oh how I miss the joys of 15psi and management..

honestly, it sounds like the ECU was just warming the cats up to operating temperature. ESPECIALLY if the vehicle hasnt run in a while, the ECU will run a higher idle to blow out/warm up the catalytic converters (they dont work cold). had you given it another few minutes, Im sure it would have dropped back down to normal idle.

SO... if reseting it doesnt help, let the car run for a bit... and it should go away.

either way, when replacing parts on the vehicle, you should always reset the ECU. Im curious to know why you had the battery hooked up when working with spark plugs, fuel lines, and injectors anyway :p goofball...

Haha. *shrugs* I'm just a girl.

I did reset the ECU and everything is good. Idle had a significant drop.

I don't think I have ever really disconnected the battery while working on those areas, just something I don't think about. Usually all my installs are totally rushed (I know, yell at me..).

I was thinking if I let it run for a minute it'd work itself out but the car was running for a good 10 minutes and the idle was still way up there. I was kinda on the same lines as you were until I realized it wasn't moving. Turn the AC on and off just to toy with it and stuff.

BUT, I can only let it run for so long, let me remind you of the leak and the huge waterfall of gas I was loosing in this whole thing. I can't even begin to explain how it was when I did it last night. Oh man. All over my windshield, just went nuts. My engine also had a horrible shutter to it, not anymore! I think it's good to go this time until I start toying with it again. (Those are going to be the days I'll start wanting to cry again.)

Also, I'm so happy I cleaned everything out..it's nice opening up to a clean interior.

I have one seat in and I'm just not going to bother with the other one right now. I don't let anyone in the car with me so I'm not worried about the passenger seat atm. I'm going to be jumping right back in that area anyway with all the electric goodies so taking out one is better than two.

If anyone has worked in the "cabin" of a Miata they know how it is dealing with a seat right there. You just want to grab it and throw it out. All those weird positions you get in trying to get under the wheel, bah!

I still wub it though..

(I kinda ranted..GOOD ONE!)
