hey guys...ive had my MSP for about 6 months now...and the suspension is really getting on my nerves

the rear sqeeks when driving and the front makes a huge sqeek when i go over any bump

is this a common thing with these cars? and if so what did you do to get rid of it?..quick fix?

I just got rid of that. It sounds llike the entire rear of the car is creaking and groaning everytime the body shifts. I think it's the beginning of the dreaded "clunk". Search "clunk" and get your read on...

From what I've read, your rear swaybar bushings are wearing prematurely because the mounts for the bar are too far inward causing the bar to twist under load, instead of bend like it's supposed to. Mazda has released several "revised" bushings that last longer, but don't fix the problem.

I bought a AXR Clunk Bracket and installed it this weekend. It moves the mounts further out and allows the bar to bend like it's supposed. The rear of the car is completely silent, now.(headbang)

It's quite common. Two of the things the msp is famous for (aside from the dreaded kaboom, lsd failure, and the 'clunk'), is a squeeking suspension and smelling like burning coolant. Welcome to the world of the msp :)

Phew. I thought that was just mine... That's a load off of my mind.

Eh, it's pretty common-- but it's not something you want to ignore if it's worse than usual. Check your dipstick for milky looking oil occasionally.

Will do. I think I've smelled a slight burnt-y smell twice in the year I've had it, but never seen t3h milkiness in my oil...

I will do some more research, though. Thanks.

If you're experiencing problems with overheating, the first thing I would look into is changing out your thermostat-- that helps considerably.

ah yes, with a turbo comes oh so many problems :) Sometimes I miss the N/A 1.8 that used to be in my car-- I could beat on that all day long and it would take it like a champ. Anyway, back on topic.

Kansei, your front strut tower brace really helped to eliminate a lot of the suspension noise I was hearing from the front-- oddly enough. Also tightened up the suspension considerably. I like :)

wow...so it is common...and i also get the burning smell...kinda used to it now doesnt really bother me anymore..lol
ive had nothin but probs wit this car since getting it...alignment was off when i got it sud have gotten it fixed as it keeps pulling....rear bumper kit is kinda loose cos the heat from exhaust melts the glue to hold it on...the stupid deck sucks and the ride is the bumpiest ive ever experienced. tyre has rubbed on more than a few occasions and it dented the frame as it hit it fairly hard once...roads in canada suck!..altho my car sits fairly low in the back as the subs weigh quite a bit...someone keyed up the side of my car recently..and there are dents on the side from a shopping cart from the looks of it...

altho..i still love the car..LOL

do u still have a warranty? u say u have a 03.5..
i just recently warrantied:
front sqiush
rear clunk
rear lip sag
axleback
and a new manifold on order..he he i have a spare just in case
first O2 sensor

good luck...

I'm probably the only one on all of westside of vancouver. Haven't seen any MSP's at all.

I've seen like 2 titaniums (white guy, asian guy), 2 orange (2 asian guys) and 2 yellow(white girl, asian guy) so far in vancouver, richmond and burnaby total.

I'm also having the same prob. When I go over speed bumps (mostly when it's cool outside) the front and rear suspension sqeeks. It gets very annoying especially when i'm out where people are and they're looking at me funny every time it does it(bang) . Does anyone know how to fix it?

the bushings on the front and rear stabilizer bars are probably bad. order new ones and change em out

I am definately also having problems with the suspension squeeking. Sometimes it will go away for about a day or so...then it comes back. And I hate it.
