Spring boost upgrade.

Spring boost upgrade. Hey every one quick question on upping the boost. I have a Manuel boost controller but am kind of afraid to run it doing to boost spikes. My car has only a cat back and intake at the moment with a good tune up. I have been trying to find a low boost gauge kind of like for a diesel only for like 15 psi since my car will most likely never see more than 11 pounds it seams kind of striped to have a 30 psi gauge any way. I was thinking of breaking down and just buying a cheap one for the time being so I can increase the boost to around 8 pounds no higher. I have been reading on the spring upgrade using the carb spring over your stock one to up the boost about 2 pounds would this be good for my application or should I just install the Manuel boost controller.

installing the manual boost controller will be so much easier and consume so much less time. it'll take you like 5 minutes to install, and however long it takes you to dial in 8psi.

i'd would suggest trying the manual boost controler first, and if you have spiking issues then go for the "spring" mod.

i had to remove my turbosmart..

the spiking was getting dangerous and would hang above 8 on occasions..

and without the apporpirate mods,(though going catless withing weeks) i didn't want to be in the zoom zoom boom club just yet.

u mean for a MBC?

as close a possible to the WGA.. but not too close for heat reasons..
i put mine after the TEE where the BPV and WGA lines are..

the TEE is on the right side of the head (river side)

but if you do install it, be aware that tyhe TEE is plastic and just by looking at it funny, it will break.

do yourself a favo and get a brasse TEE and brass connectors..

or you could get a new WGA, that'll hold a rock solid 8psi i hear. $65, and it'll be dependable forever.

Im sorry im still new what is a wga. I took her to the track last night and made 3 passes when I first got there man heat sucks. I couldn’t get the car under 16 to save my life it seamed like the car would bog between shifts. After letting her cool for two hours I mad one more pass this time she pulled twice as hard and with a bad reaction time and some unwanted spin she mad a 2.3 0-60 and a 15.6 at 88. That’s with the large rx8 rims. I was happy to see her run write finally. Only mods are intake cat back and stock boost.

WGA = wastegate actuator. It basically opens a door to let exhaust gases bypass the turbine wheel in the turbo at a certain preset boost level, thus limiting the 'power' supply to the turbo to limit maximum boost pressure. The stock one is set at 6.5psi (although everyone has seen different numbers). You can get a new ATP Wastegate actuator at crossover (http://*************.com/mazdaspeed2.htm) for $60. Many members say it holds a rock-solid 8psi (1.5 more than factory). and it's a direct replacement.

search here..

theres a thread here on how to do it without removing the turbo and alot of things..

just the hot pipe and i think it,s done from underneath..
