My g/f has a 99 pro es. On a trip out of town, she had a check engine light come on. She took it to a dealer to have it scanned and found a plug and wire issue along with a leaking intake gasket. The plug issue has me puzzled. The wires and plugs were changed a year ago, almost to the day. The problem is with moisture getting into the plug wire boot and shorting the wire and plug. I have never heard of this. I would have thought any moisture would evaporate with the heat of the engine. This is the second time I have had a plug/wire issue. Its only happening on cylinder 2. We havnt had much rain and the engine hasnt had a hose, or pressure washer near it to blow water past the boot. Any ideas what might be causing it? There is no internal water issues at all. Only external moisture.
