Is that a serious question?... It's like asking whats better for brushing teeth... electric toothebrush or battery toothebrush?

depends on your goals

less than 10 psi i would go with a SMIC

oh and a fmic has a little more lag from what i've read here..

FMIC is better for big boost, but will cause some lag at stock boost. I don't think it is really safe to boost high enough to warrant a FMIC on the stock internals, but that is my opinion. If you ever plan on building the motor (forged internals) & upping the boost past 10 psi, then might as well go with a FMIC and save your self the $$ and labor of doing the intercooler twice. Again, this is just my personal opinion.

That makes sense, i dont know much, but I would agree with you. I never thought about it, mostly because everybody is like FMIC,FMIC, FMIC, which im sure is better, and u always see on boosted cars, but we have petty boost comparedd to others like Evos and Subbies! This stock Engine wont handle much boost, ask the zoom zoom boom club!
Your little insight just made me plan for a SMIC until i get money for a built Engine. Good Job!

yeah me to man because i was looking at doing forged internals but they are like atleast 2 gs and i dont wanna spend that right now and that
 
if you plan on getting some good power anytime soon without heatsoak and with accompanying mods, go fmic

I had the Ion FMIC and now the Custom SMIC

More lag with the Ion for sure.

Harder to locate a potential boost leak with the FMIC as well with all the couplers etc.
 
FMIC sure does look pretty though...i am sure it will help me out during the hot days down here too

car feeels more responsive with SMIC IHMO....and I have never managed to heat soak it even at a track day last year..

Keep in mind I boost 8-9 PSI

I would have stayed with FMIC if i was planning to boost 10 PSI or more regularly
