When idling intermittent car shaking

When idling and engine warmed up or cold doesn’t matter: off and on the car shakes. Engine RPM live view is around 750. However the throttle position live view shows intermittent jumps. When that happens the whole car shakes a bit. Happens for couple seconds randomly. In between usually like 2 or 3 minutes between shakes. The duration of shaking also varies. Sometime like a second and sometimes up to 3 to 5 seconds. Very noticeable.

Let’s get the easy ones out of the way just as a sanity check. Is the air filter box closed and secured tight and proper? Is the engine oil cap screwed in all of the way? Throwing those out there in case a service technician might have goofed.
70,000.
CODE: P0171 -finally appeared.

I am suspecting a vacuum leak perhaps? Ran live view using BlueDriver and collected short and long term fuel trim. The app said should be near 0. But if above 15% *which is what I see most of the time for short term* and if pedal is pressed - its dropping.

@ruthrj YOU ARE AWESOME. The dealership did not put the air filter box clips on and inside there was no air filter. I had just installed a week prior a premium (not value priced) Mazda air filter. Worked like a champ now - no more jerking / shaking when idling. Engine light went away after 5 miles of drive test. Fortunately, I still had my old air filter in my recyclable trash, which BTW is supposed to taken by township tomorrow!!

Pffffffft 😯 and they wonder why they get the name "stealership".

Can't even do a simple task for their $185/HR shop rates they want to charge. So ridiculous.

Glad you have it sorted and hopefully no damage from driving around with no filter for ______?

Good that it's an easy fix. I'd be concerned if dirt got sucked into engine without air filter resulting in possible premature wear of engine internals in the future.
