g stands for garrett, i think we go that one....and t stands for...yes you guessed it TURBO and the R stand for the 'Rolling' element in the single cartridge duel ball bearing design.

explain to me somehting...why would garret only call our turbo gt as in garret turbo and all the other turbos are all t25,t28,t3,t4 ????? just click on over to their site and see for urself...GT = garrets line of high end technology advanced turbos.....

damnit auto.....is my word not good enough. well of course not....that quote came from the garrett catalog. GT25R sheesh:rolleyes:

ive been through their site over and over....i havent found a gt25r......do u have a part # on it...since u have the catalog?

at first the name arguement was pointless but that was before i realized you think what eeryone calls a t25 is any different than the real name GT25R. people like to shorten things to t25. Oh and here is a good one for you. THe line used to be called NGT but they realized NGT25R or NGT28RS was too long and too gay. now it is one letter less...bye bye N

and where does it even say our car is equiped with a gt25r???? even the link u showed us earlier says t25r repeatively...do they just want to throw the "g" out for fun?

hhmmm that doesnt add up.....but oh well....i always watched gt and t as two different turbos...gt series has always bee their top of the line turbos runnin their latest technlogy...bb...dual bb...etc etc etc......

from what the leaflet says is correct...garretts gt series is their top of the line turbos......replaceing NGT, as u stated.......but t and gt are totally different turbos...i knew this....now back to my major question.....where does it say we have gt25r turbos?!?!?

yes people do drop off the g. i could be mistaken but i don't believe they make a t series 25. only t3 t4 and t3/4 hybrid. the res are all GT R's or RS modles since the '90's

the gt25r number is 471171-3

also t series dont end in R, due to that R stands for 'Rolling' element in the single cartridge duel ball bearing design

did u click on th elink i posted...they do make a t series line of turbos.....they are older and more bulky then the gt series that as i have stated are their most advance turbos.....i just looked over my catalog and found the gt25r turbo .....read the trim and a/f of the housing and compare to our turbo...tell me what u get .....even mazdausa has it on their site as a t25r.....a gt turbo is not a t turbo.......

"gt vs. t - what is the difference"

yeh thats y its such a debate...this is my theroy

i think mazda couldnt afford to have a expensive gt series turbo on their cars....so whats the next best thing?? u can slap a bb center section on any normal t series turbo for pennys compared to the cost of a gt series......so why not get cheaper t series turbos and slap a nice bb section on it and tada..a nice responsive turbo ??!?!?! the quote of t25r is simpley a reworked t series with a bb section...thats y i honeslt feel mazda just slapped the r at the end......until i see the specs of our turbo and they are exactly like the gt25r garret sells i dont belive we have the "real" gt25r.......i copared several t series t25's and they are remarkably close to ours....

dude your a ******* nucklehead...(smash)(stooges)

autobox, i REALLY want to check out a msp now, cause it wouldn't be hard with just a few measurements to find out once and for all if the msp's have a gt-series turbo.

well form what i have dug up...the gt25r turbo has a 4" inlet.....im gonna dig more....but from the looks of it...i DO NOT think we have a gt25r...but a reworked t25...makes sense to me....y would mazda put a $1500 retail......turbo on our car?!?! shi they didnt even go the ecu tuning right...what would the point be?? i

yea, i agree. the gt25r is def more money than mazda would spend. the inlet is what ices the cake for me. obviously if the inlet is smaller on the MSPs, the compressor housing is not the same, thus, not a GT-series housing. the GT25R has a larger wheel and c.housing right? on goes the search...
