Skyactiv 6 auto - flush or drain?

:
CX-5, fwd auto
Hi,
I am wondering if I should flush or drain and fill skyactiv 6 auto on my 2013 cx5 with 30,000 miles?

I like to drain and fill but no dealer near me do this.

Any one had issues after transmission flush?

Thanks

I've not looked into it (only 1,200 miles on my CX-5), but one of the strongest warnings my sales rep gave me was to never, never, never change the transmission fluid. I thought that was strange, but I didn't press him on it, since I assumed any service issues would be years down the road. He seemed incredibly knowledgeable about the rest of the vehicle, so his warning came from somewhere.

I will not do a trans flush.
Totally agree.

To OP, you have only 30K miles and there is no concerns of doing ATF drain and fill. Just follow the procedure from service manual like Chris_Top_Her mentioned and DIY. And ask him how to get a free copy of service manual too if you don't have one. :)

Never is a long time, and the stuff will eventually wear out depending on how long you keep your vehicle. Maybe he meant a flush? Entirely up to you, but their fluid is good stuff..

Thanks everyone. I will do drain and fill for peace of mind as I do not think fluid will last more than 150,000 miles or 10 years. Thanks for Chris as I was not aware about service manual indicating drain and fill.

I ordered 6 quarts of the Mazda FZ from Amazon for $74 shipped. I'm planning on doing the drain and fill then end of the month when I hit 50K miles. I'll do it at the same time I change my oil, engine and cabin air filters then I should be good to go.

I was told the same thing by my dealer. I'm up to almost 23,000 miles in 8 months, so last oil change I was thinking about just changing the fluid for the hell of it. Dealer said on my 2016, it has a sealed trans so should never be changed. I hadn't heard of that before.

Every transmission will wear out its fluid. 'Sealed' is relative to transmissions of years past and actually means "not user serviceable". Drain and fill can and should be done every once in a long while. I have a skilled shop do this. 23,000 seems a bit early though. 36 perhaps.

These transaxes are not sealed. They have dipsticks. In front under airbox. Even as a mazda senior tech i do not believe in lifetime fluid as everything breaks down at some point. FZ is really good quality. So it does last longer. We rec at dealer drain and fill only every 60 to 75k. Make sure to use a new washer. Drain plug is a 8mm hex. Same as oil pan. They are crush washer and will leak if continuously used over. 4 qrts is enough on drain and fills. Just like any other trans...make sure to let get to operating temp when checking fill. 135-160 degrees F. This is sweet spot. Shuft thru all gears while running make sure all nooks and cranies are filled with fluid. You will be fine.

i have a 2012 Diesel with 60 000 KM,s I have done about 10 000 km's of towing a medium sized wind up caravan so decided to change the transmission oil. At the dealer i paid $190 aus dollars for 5 liters. I drained the tranny hot and waited about 20 minutes to drain. Exactly 3.6 Liters drained so i replaced that amount. I reused the washer as i do with Engine oil and replace every second fill. Never had a leak. The oil was very dark but not a trace of any sludge on the plug, i am assuming it is magnetic. I found it easiest to access the dip stick from underneath. Workshop manual says check level when hot with engine running which is standard procedure for automatic transmissions. I am wondering if the change in oil color from clear blue to dark brown is mainly from heat or minute particles of clutch material. whatever the case i am glad i did the change it was easier than i anticipated.
I have never had any problems with my DieselCX5 except the well known exhaust gas temp sensor replacement very early on. i still get a kick out of driving it after three years . Change my engine oil every 5000 km's
