Side Marker Lights?

:
2008 Mazda3 Sedan
I was wondering, is there a way to change out the bulbs for the side marker lights?
I tried searching the How to forums for the MZ3/MS3, but no luck.
I'd like to get pink bulbs, if possible. Just going along with the pink accents of my car. Hahah.

The back of the side marker is sealed to the front clear cover, kind of like our headlights...heard of someone cutting the back off(dremel maybe), changing bulb and resealing it somehow. Maybe you can bake them off like an angel eye install? I think most people just tint the outer cover:confused:

Is the bulb inside of the casing clear? I actually haven't look at the side marker lights. But I do know that it shines yellow when I have my indicators on.

You can probably find pink leds at www.superbrightleds.com. As for what bulb type, you're back to opening up the sidemarker. They aren't designed for replacing the bulb inside, rather replacing the whole sidemarker. This is the conclusion I've come to on them, someone correct me if I'm off on this. I nightshaded my stocks, then went to a smoked led aftermarket set.

I just blacked out mine....I tried to pull it apart and it does appear to be sealed. So I tinted them. Try baking it, although you might want to be careful cause it may not be the same composition as headlights

Actually they're more like the tail lights than they are the headlights. The headlights are sealed with an adhesive that can be heated and then pulled apart. In the tail lights the clear outer cover is formed around the actual housing. Try heating that up and all you'll do is melt the housing.

The only way to get into the OEM sidemarker is to cut open the back. Nominally you would do that by trimming off the small amount of "lip" that the clear cover has over the housing. Once you have it open the lamp itself is a 194. You can seal it back up with silicone, etc. once you're done.

Thx true, and icspots with the knowhow...just be careful on your colors, red and blue pisses off the popo most everywhere, check your local traffic laws.

Yeah. Thanks icspots. Considering what needs to be done for so little, I'll probably just leave it alone and stick with just getting the fogs.
