Pretty random thread I guess. But it looks like in a few months I might have an opportunity to move to Richmond. Living in Maine right now which I've been doing the past 7 years. This would still be dependant on a few things but my dad moved down there about 10months ago to work for infineon. Says I could get a job there pretty easily and I could probably take over the apartment he's got fully furnished so it wouldn't be a difficult move on my part.

Just curiouse what you guys think of the area and all. Tell me some of the good and bad things down there maybe. Thanks for any advice.

YES COME DOWN HERE! LOL THEN THERE WOULD BE 1 MORE MP3 HERE!!! lol jk. well it depends.... nothin really happens down here.... i mean if you're in college then sure u could always go to vcu or somethin, and club or w/e but other than that theres nothin..... closest track *if you race* is dinwoody... ors omethin like that. so many cops down here too. but umm i guess a poll would be nice lol although it would gamble with ur life, but hell lol jk. thats my opion theres nothin really down here... u should come down n visit ur dad n see how it is for urself first before any big move or anything.

Well, if the rest of Maine is anything like Bangor, you should move. No offense, but I didn't see a damn thing there, although I only stayed there for a day.

Richmond can be pretty good, but for gawd sakes stay away from Northern Virginia. It is near impossible to buy a house here, and rent is behind crazy in some places.
(crazy)

Yeah I should've made it a poll. Was down there once didn't get a chance to see too much. Just went to a bar a couple of times. I definitely plan on making another trip down there. I haven't been to Bangor really but there definitely isn't much to do in Maine. Go take a look at the excitement that goes on in that forum. Figured I'd get a few random opinions from people down there though. It would definitely put one more Yellow MP3 on the streets down there. Yeah ever since I came to Maine I never had intentions on staying here forever. I'm sure I'll be back down there to check it out again soon. Maine is definitely getting a little old though

i live in Arlington (which is Northern VA) and I LOVE it!

ppl might disagree, but i think theres lots of opportunity in fairfax county.. (northern va)...bad thing is

if u dun buy the right house in the right place... u'll be miserable due to high costs and insane traffic... POINT--> DONT MOVE TO WOODBRIDGE AND WORK AT DULLES

Yeah it's definitely sounding like a tempting option. Right now I work at National Semiconductor just a regular FAB rat. I'd be going for the same thing down there at infineon. That and the last winter was nuts up here. Way too much snow. I've got a few months to figure it out. Thanks for the opinions. But yeah the houseing situation in Maine is getting nuts for some people in cities. They adjusted the value of homes/property some people wound up owning homes that they were paying taxes on that used to be valued at around $200,000 and went up to around a million.

Thanks for the opinions

Thats cause you only drive half a mile to a metro station :)

There are jobs here though compentation is getting tough, and first time home buyers is insane! Sorry there is no justification for charging so much for some homes around here.

I was born and raised in Dale City, and yes too expensive if you want to live nice. I don't know if I'll ever move back. But I am going to visit family this weekend, I'm flying in Thur.

Dale City has gone down hills in some areas, but has developed quite nicely in others. The mall is even huger now and has a great theater finally!

hhmm....it has its ups and downs but overall Va is " ok ".

Cops are a royal pain in the butt, snow is fairly ok here, not too rough, some parts of VA are like ghost towns, go in and get carjacked, some as so peaceful, you drop a needle in the middle of the street and everyone hears it.

Its not too bad, I live in Springfield, VA, just 3 minutes from the Franconia/Springfield Metro Station :P

Dale city is called hoodbridge now, didn't ya know? But Manassas is no better. Everytime I turn on the news it is something negative about Manassas. I mean this past weekend some lady left her kid in the car at costco to go shopping in this stupid heat! Ididiots I tell you!
