Onrails- I purchased the kartboy combo of bushings and the lever and have been very happy with the feel. I'm pretty confident it was money well spent to help cure the mod bug for a worthwhile and affordable improvement.

I agree with Heathen.. definitely get the kartboy bushings and install them with the short shifter.. :)

How much of a pita is the install?

I think it would depend on which ss you get.. I was told that the kartboy fits "like a glove" on a protege5.. and the B&M is the worst fitting of the group... worst fitting means a bit harder of an install.. but it shouldn't take more than a few hours at most.

I had a friend install mine, I'd say it took about an hour and that included jacking the car up to install the bushings. The O ring pliers are a must though. After seeing it done, I could probably do it myself w/ help. I've had my KB for a year now and love it.

You are more than capeable of doing the entire install in under an hour. If you have an aftermarket exhaust then the stock bushing removal and replacement with new is much much easier because the cat housings aren't in the way.

oh you need to mess with the exhaust when installing this too?
No, the cats get in your way where you have to install the bushings making the installation a little more tricky with a stock exhaust. There is no need to change or move the exhaust it's just a pita to move around down there in the space with the bushings when you have cats.

heathen i want your front mount intercooler!! where can i get it? and how much was it? or was it custom made?

wow.. you've been a busy beaver posting today! ;)

Onrails is correct it is a hiboost fmic and I paid $900 but I believe you can find them cheaper now. I'd recommend if you are looking to mod the car from stock form, and want to put together a package you can be happy with as you go, start with the exhaust- just my $.02-

not the exhaust...more like the heat sheild the shifter is above it and it helps to unbolt the sheild..gives you more room to play. its an easy install. took me an hour only because I had to get up and go to the parts store for the ring pliers. it'll be simple trust me.
