Short Shifter Installation

Hey guys, just order a short shifter kit online (TWM Performance) and hope to get it soon!! I've never done any mods or installations on any car I've owned, and was just needed to know where is a place I could go to have it installed. From what I understand it's pretty easy so I might try to do it myself (comes with detailed instructions) but if I decide to let the pros do it, where would I go? Would most clutch places do it? Thanks!

this is definitely a do-it-yourself mod.
all you need is a jack, some stands, a ratchet set, and a c-ring plier thing.. i don't know the exact name of it but i do own one.

like he said do it urself.
i did it myself and it was my first time doing it. pretty nervousing but i did it fine.
twm makes great instructions
and hope u got the bushings. cuase they are amazing
mine popped out in an accident and now im runnin the stock bushings and i hate it with my short shifter....

go to the highest end performance shop and tell them you have a rare shifter system to install. Get a quote.

Look at quote, and laugh the whole time you change out the shifter in their parking lot before you leave.

If you pay someone to do this you need to have your tuner card pulled.

Tip - put a little locktite on the nut when you bolt it back in, it won't loosen up easily that way.

If you want to firm up the OEM shifter bushing you might want to try screwing in a few good screws into the rubber outer rings. Cut off the heads and it'll essentially give a high tension fit to the center shift rod and more resistance.
Cheap and should be worth a shot.

Here's one more vote for do-it-yourself...with the TWM instructions you'll be more than fine, plus you'll feel that great sense of accomplishment when you're done and it won't be followed by that sick feeling in your stomach when you realize you screwed it up...it's that easy!

One peice of advice though... if you havent done any mods before this one, make sure that you set apart a couple hours to do it, take your time, u dont want to mess anything up.

yeps i took about 1hr to do this cause its my first one
and majority of my time was tryna push out the stock bushing in the linkage to replace for the polyurethane ones, and gettin the 2 screw thiings to stay in place for me to put the long bolt into the shifter in the bottom...

i had the nut fall of when i was driving. luckily, i found the bolt and didn't have to wait on another one. loctite FTW.
